Words cannot express how happy we are that we discovered this hidden gem when we were simply looking on impulse for an Indian restaurant after a long day. The name seemed familiar from one we had eaten at in Falls Church that was a favorite of ours. And we were pleasantly surprised that they are owned by the same people. The staff here were just as courteous, helpful and efficient making sure our drinks stay full, the plates were cleared away and coming to check on how everything was. The whole experience from the presentation of the food, the portions, the quality of the ingredients, how well it was seasoned and cooked and the pricing for what you get which is a lot was right on mark in every way. We could taste the effort and love that goes into their cooking and how much they take pride in what they do. I think the food is just a bit better seasoned than their other location too. Everything tasted amazing and had our taste buds singing. We could not have asked for a better experience both times we were there for lunch and dinner and we feel most welcomed when we are there. They are wonderful proof that good food traverses boundaries and cultures amd brings people together as also witnessed by the other happy diners there of various ethnicities. Definitely on our list of places to go to and another local business we plan to...
Read moregGood food, though nothing particularly exceptional in terms of flavor or spices. The peppers and onions were fresh, the chicken tikka was tender and tasty, and the rice was cooked well but was a little bland as it was just long grain rice without a lot of seasoning. If you are craving Indian food, it's worth a try but I wouldn't call it outstanding. I didn't like their dal very much but that's probably just me.
--edit-- the second time going there the rice was much more aromatic. Chicken curry sauce was very good, and the chicken was tender, if not particularly seasoned itself.
--edit-- Got the Chicken Tikka Masala again and it was outstanding. The chicken itself was seasoned well and the sauce was delicious. the rice was aromatic was well. upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. portions are still excellent. let's hope they maintain this level of quality. Still can't honestly say this restaurant has an "it" factor that distinguishes it from other good Indian restaurants, but the flavors, pricing, and portions warrant 5 stars in my opinion.
--edit-- Came back months later and the food is even better than before. This place is worth visiting if you're in the area. The chicken biryani spices were delicate and flavorful while the lamb curry was delicious. However, the kulfi ice...
Read moreThe staff at Raaga Tandoor was friendly, helpful, and efficient. It being the age of covid, I had to get takeout, but the space looked clean and well-kept. The menu has good coverage of the basics of Indian Tandoor cuisine, so you can probably find what you're looking for. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. One thing I don't expect from Indian food is to be bored, but this had so little spice, it was more like just lamb in cream sauce. The lamb was reasonably tender, but not "melt in your mouth." The rice was a little dry and again, boring. I think they must have really toned-down their spices for the American market, but the result is almost a betrayal. If I get anything from here again, I'll be sure to order it spicy. A fellow Burke resident told me that the Goat Curry is really good, so I'll probably try that. Given the professionalism exhibited by the restaurant itself, I expect they are able to give me what I'm looking for. I'll just have to be specific that I want it considerably more spicy than their...
