I am honestly very surprised at how high the rating is on this place. I am wondering if it is because this place is located in a gas station, most of the people who eat there and review it are used to lower quality food.

If you eat out at most Mexican restaurants around Colorado, it is incredibly easy to tell that the food from El Reynaldo's is inferior quality but priced similarly to its superior counterparts. I bought three rolled tacos with cheese & guac, a carnitas taco, carne asada taco, and a shredded beef taco.

Even just looking at the picture I posted, if you've had any good carnitas this one looks disgusting. It was thick, flavorless chunks and the meat looked old.

The asada was also large chunks, but somehow still managed to be dry and flavorless instead of juicy like it should be with chunks that size.

The rolled tacos were tiny with a very thin tortilla wrap and almost resembled frozen taquitos thrown in a deep fryer. There is also a pitiful amount of cheese and guac thrown onto the top, as illustrated by the second picture attached to this review.

The shredded beef taco was the only decent thing I had, but even the shell on this was thin and cheap. I think that it tasted better because it was deep-fried, so the oil gave the beef more flavor and texture than it would normally have.

Guacamole was ok but did not stand out in any way.

Don't waste your money...

STOP COMING HERE THEY'RE OVER CHARGING YOU There's a 4% charge on card transactions and my original order total was $20.66 but when I checked my bank statement the following day it was ran as $25.88. 4% of $20.66 is 83cents. I didn't even leave a tip so there's no reason for a $4.39 overcharge. I call them to point out this problem, my name and number gets taken down and I'm told to come in to get some "free food" to make it right instead of refunding the over charge. So I go back at a later time, the time they told me to come, there's 3 people working and there's nobody waiting for food other than somebody in the drive thru. I stand there waiting with my husband and two kids at the counter for at least 10 minutes while 3 male employees stand there laughing on their phones in the kitchen doorway. The worst part was that one of the employees kept making eye contact with me, clearly noticing my existence that I've been there waiting literally 10 feet away from them, it's very apparent I need some service. It almost seemed like we were being ignored intentionally. I've been eating here for 20 years and I will...

El Reynaldo’s in Canon City receives mostly positive reviews for its authentic Mexican cuisine, with many patrons praising the fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes. The restaurant is known for its generous portion sizes, especially for popular items like burritos, tacos, and enchiladas. The salsa and chips are often highlighted as a favorite, and many customers enjoy the variety of options available on the menu.

However, a few reviews mention occasional inconsistencies in service, particularly during busy times, and some customers feel that the atmosphere could be improved. While the food is generally well-regarded, a small number of patrons have expressed concerns about long wait times or service that could be more attentive. Overall, El Reynaldo’s is considered a solid choice for those craving tasty and hearty Mexican food...

The tacos featured in the picture are 2 fish tacos and a potato taco. Pretty simplistic and they are very delicious. The staff is always pretty nice and very upbeat. They can get busy and fast. The only thing is the eating area tends to have flies around the area every time I come into eat. But you better believe that I'm still going to destroy my tacos without fail. I live in Colorado Springs, but I do a route through the area for my job and this is the only taco place I stop by to eat at off of Highway 50. The price for the tacos are cheaper (around $1.95- $2.50 depending on what you order) And I'm always satisfied when I leave. I highly recommend coming here to grab a bite to eat whenever you're hungry.

Traveling through Canon City on my way to the Royal Gorge Bridge, I spotted this hole in the wall off of Hwy 50. I made a not of what intersection it was located at so I could grab a burrito for my trip back north after photographing the bridge. The entire time I was standing on the side 9f the gorge I was thinking of my dinner yet to be had here. When I finally got to the restaurant and ordered my Supreme Carne Asada burritos I was elated that it was on the menu. The burritos was worth wait! 9ne of the best I've had since growing up in San Diego. Highly recommend for anyone traveling through Canon City! Oh, yeah my photo of the bridge is attached!
