My family and I were traveling through Wisconsin and found this place. We love to try these local favorites so we were really excited. Unfortunately we were really let down. 25 minutes after placing our order I had to go find the waitress and ask how much longer it was going to be. I was told that we were the third ticket it so it would be a little but longer. About 5 minutes later the food finally came. Not once did the waitress check on us, offer to refill our drinks or let us know there would be a delay. Since the restaurant is inside a gas station, I was sorely tempted to go buy some food so my children could eat.
The food was mediocre at best. The bacon was thick cut but not cooked all the way - one side was done but the other side was not, making the bacon chewy. The rest of the food was cooked properly but the flavors weren't anything better than what could be made at home.
We sat for over 5 minutes waiting for our check before my husband took our children out to our vehicle. I waited at our table another several minutes, the entire time trying to make eye contact with the waitress. She finally noticed and when she brought the check said "Here you are sweetie"!?! I'm in my late 30's, it's not cute or polite to be called sweetie by a teenager.
Any one of these things are easily overlooked, especially if the food is delicious, but all this in one stay is poor business. Maybe it was an off day or maybe you get better service if yourey a local but regardless, I wouldn't recommend this...
Read moreGreat service with a smile from the waitress. She was young, & although there were a few slight indications of her inexperience, she was ambitious with a pleasant attitude. Even though I thought their bean & ham soup was a little light on the ham, it was delicious! The rest of the food was only okay. I was also disappointed in their hamburger gravy I was expecting meat with it. It appeared like it was only the regular brown beef gravy that was probably browned in a frying pan with the leftover hamburger grease. If you like the taste of pan gravy you might like it, but it really wasn't to my liking and definitely not what I was expecting. To sum it up, I would give the service 5 stars & the food only 3 inspite of how good the...
Read moreWe go to DJ's 3 to 4 times a year when visiting with family near there and its unbelievable how affordable the food is. It reminds me of eating at the Husky's in Northern Ontario Canada. $8.00 for a full and I do mean a full breakfast with bottomless coffee. Clean, well stocked, sanitized bathrooms. The staff is really nice to chat with and very attentive to the customers. Great coffee at .99 cents a cup. Small country establishment using local fare -and you can really see and taste it-. Really affordable -wow! Clean sitting areas either booth or table. Well lit and clean....
