Classic K Hamburgers — Restaurant in Cahokia

I don't usually write reviews for bad experiences, but I had to share this one to warn folks about the wait time.

I was passing through the area on a cross-country road trip and decided to try Classic K Hamburgers based on the reviews. I noticed comments on the food taking a while, but that the food was worth it, so I left my lodging and went to their drive-through. When I arrived there were 2 cars in front of me. I ordered my food and started to wait in the line. The first car got their food somewhat quickly, although I didn't know how long they'd been there before I arrived.

The next car pulled up to the pick-up window and waited...and waited...and waited. I was patient, because of the reviews I'd seen. After at least 10 minutes I began to think that the person in front of me had placed a really big order and that's what was taking so long. We kept waiting. After at least another 5 minutes, a normal size order finally came out and the car in front of me drove away.

It had been at least 15 minutes since I ordered, so my Bacon Cheeseburger and onion rings had plenty of time to cook while I was waiting for the order ahead of me, right? Well, apparently not. I sat at the window for at least another 10 minutes waiting for those 2 items. I have never waited in a drive-thru line for so long. Was the cook making one order at a time and not starting the next one until the first one was done? I have no idea, but I'd say they need a new cook or an additional cook. This was completely unnecessary.

When I finally got my food, the burger was extremely overcooked. (see photos). It wasn't a thick burger so there was no reason to keep it on the grill so long. Aside from it being well done, the flavor was ok and the onion rings were ok too. Neither was worth the 30-minute wait in line on a hot summer night though.

If I lived in the town I might give Classic K another chance, but as a result of my first visit I would not...

THE LONGER THAN NORMAL WAIT IS BECAUSE THIS PLACE ISN'T FASTWOOD, It's FRESH FOOD: I just so happened to be in the area and needed something to eat. I saw Classic K Hamburgers and jumped in the drive through line. While I was waiting, I read some reviews that talked about how the drive through can be a long wait. Compared to normal fast food places, this was about a 15-minute wait;however, I don't think Classic K is a normal fast food place. I ordered a chicken sandwich and their ultimate sandwich. This place definitely deserves the stars. What a surprise. We are new in town, trying to find WHATS goid and wow these are some dang good burgers, at least whoever they have cooking today did a great job. Just the right amount of greasy smashed burgers and melted cheese and bacon with it all the way. The bun was so soft and fluffy and perfect. So good. The onion rings were SUPER crispy and delicious. The girl at the window was super nice.
