From the moment I walked into Casa Modern Mexican Restaurant, I had a feeling the evening would be special—but it was the bartender, Yoatzi, who truly made it unforgettable.

Seated at the bar, I was immediately greeted with a warm smile and a sense of attentiveness that you rarely encounter. She took the time to ask what flavors I enjoy, then expertly crafted a bespoke cocktail —balanced, nuanced, and beautifully presented. It was clear I was in the hands of someone who takes real pride in their craft.

Throughout the evening, Yoatzi moved with a calm, confident energy behind the bar—shaking, stirring, pouring with fluid grace. Whether it was classic cocktails or inventive originals, every drink served was consistent, thoughtfully made, and backed by encyclopedic knowledge. I appreciated not just the technical skill, but the genuine hospitality; conversations flowed easily, and the recommendations were spot-on.

Food was OK at best. Definitely not very authentic, but that seems to be what most locals prefer... Horchata was yummy and a bit different than other local restaurants. I had been craving simple loaded nachos, noticed they point out on the menu extra cheese is more $ (understandable) but I've never had to ask for extra cheese on loaded nachos, so I didnt.... BIG MISTAKE, there wasn't enough cheese to even cover the middle chips and the bottom of the plate was completely dry. I've NEVER experienced that with nachos anywhere, especially when they cost more than a lot of other entrees! Had to walk bk to kitchen to ask for our check after waiting over 10 min. Also, we were over charged for a single Chile relleno, the price that was input in their cash register (i.e. it wasn't the cashiers fault, it was already input for the Chile relleno) was $1 more than the menu stated. She had to put it on the receipt as "misc item" to correct it and said she would let the manager know. She was...

Service was ok considering they were short staffed. The margaritas were nothing more than slushies, no alcohol in them. Order two shots of tequila to add to the margaritas and got two half shots. Took our food to go since we had already waited over 45 minutes in a not so busy environment. Bill was $65.83! Really????!!! Won’t be back.

Got home and opened the food. Disgusting to say the least! I ordered the shrimp tacos and it came with three soft shells spread across the bottom with filling on the top. Of corse shells were soggy and fillings were flavorless. Hubby ordered some sort of burrito and couldn’t eat his either as the steak, chicken and mystery meat were tough with no flavor. Garbage is too nice a word to describe the food. Only gave one star because it wouldn’t let me...
