Small mom and pop Mexican restaurant serving fresh hot authentic cuisine. Unlimited self serve chips and salsa bar is a super bonus! Their cabbage slaw is amazingly delicious with just the right amount of sourness and tang.....all the other salsas were very good too. I tried their Machaca con huevos dish and it did not disappoint. Machaca is seasoned slow cooked shredded beef and it was scrambled together with eggs to make a scramble of sort. The side of beans and homefry potatoes were good but not anything memorable. The corn tortillas that came along side were hot and soft. The Horchata here is bomb. One of thee top five best places for Horchata in my book. And with unlimited free refills.......I'm done. Game Over. The only negative about this establishment is the lack of air conditioning! Hot Cali summer days eating here will be similar to a sauna session after my workouts. Lol. However, for their yummy good food I will...
Read moreI really wanted to like this restaurant because on the surface it looks cute and arty and there aren't many places like that in South El Monte. But I got food poisoning. These are all things that kept running through my head as I felt sick. If this is what they want the customer experience to be like, then this does reflect well of the standards that their kitchen is held up to. Hence the reason for my food poisoning. Our server was really...
Read moreI was looking in the maps for a recommended mexican restaurant for breakfast, this place pop up with a reasonable reviews and I went there with good expectations. There are in the menu 118 items (crazy) I ordered a plate I tought was the best of them (chilaquiles de mole and café de la olla) the girl brought me my coffee and some kind of syrup for mix with the regular coffee and voilà I get "café de la olla"; then she served my food plate, I realized that the food was microwaved because the cheese on my food was melted, the side potatoes doesn't have any seasoning and canned beans. In conclusion I think does not worth $15 plus tip for the food and the coffee because their food is not good enough, you take your own chance, but for me...
