Albert's Fresh Mexican Food — Restaurant in California

So im a So Cal native who relocated a few years ago out of state, Albert's was my go to lakeside spot that always has really good food until recently. So basically 2 weeks ago I came into town for a family funeral, after driving 12hrs with my wife and kid we were finally in lakeside walking through the front door of Albert's at 8:40pm before they close at 9pm, just in time right, I order my go to Alexadilla burrito, a burger and fries for my kid and my wife some mini tacos, there card reader wasn't working, no problem I had cash, we paid and waited, two more customers come in right before 9pm and ordered food, its 9:10pm at this point and the other two customers who came in after us get there food before us, then the young girl and guy behind the register start arguing in spanish, little do they know my white a$$ speaks spanish and the young girl tells they guy " you gave his burrito to wrong customer". Now im sitting there with my wife and my son, I look at the guy and he says "sorry man something happened with your order and the cooks dont want to make your burrito because they already cleaner the griddle, ill refund your money, but they made the tacos and burger with fries", keep in mind we have now waited over 30mins, im calm and cool and tell him its ok, things happen, now im expecting a full refund for the meal right, do right by the customer, nope he gives me the exact amount back for just the burrito, he didn't even give me back the tax I paid for it, im pissed at this point but what can I do, I grab the bag so at least my kid and wife can eat, I have never had service like that before, ever, anywhere, I took my $14 and drove off. I don't post 1 star reviews unless its deserved and this one warranted me to do so, I have eaten here probably 30 times and this time I was done dirty, I made sure to tell all my family and friends about this while I was in town and all of them were shocked, normally the service here is on point but I wont ever come back here...

If I could give a no star I would... Been going here for along time. Recently have started to cut dairy and meat from my diet. Last two times I have been there I found meat in my veggie burrito with a little cheese... Even though I ordered no cheese. My wife and son are extremely allergic to dairy and upon the last time we went they requested no cheese. However on both their order they found quite a bit of cheese. My wife ended up throwing up at the restaurant and my son complained the whole night of his stomach hurting. I emailed the company about the issues I had. The were very polite and said they were going to take action to resolve this issue. They also stated that they would like to compensate us for the food we had purchased in the form of a gift card. After they said this Albert's never responded to any emails I sent. So to sum it all up we never recived any gift card like was promised. We also have not been back to see if the issue has been resolved. It's so heart breaking because I would promote and bring all my friends here. I still wish it were the case. Unfortunately I cannot support a business like...

Update 12/13/2023

Ugh. The prices keeps climbing and while that isn’t a huge deal (everything is malt expensive) the food quality is really really taking a deep nose dive. The meat is watery and flavorless. Both hot sauces are hot, yet taste like chemicals (which happens when you don’t spend long enough roasting the tomatoes, tomatillos, or jalapeños), the size of the tacos and burritos are about half what they used to be.

Its frustrating. We keep going back thinking that our bad experiences are a fluke, but it’s not. They obviously changed too much. We’ll be finding a new place

Our go to local Mexican place. Consistently good and we always try new dishes. Favorites are al pastor, adobada torta, chicken flautas, beef taco, large rolled tacos, potato tacos, hash brown burrito, etc. we come at least once a week. Salsas are also excellent. Always busy....
