Sadly this place is no longer the same AMAZING BBQ. Ownership changed. The service was wonderful and new owners are very friendly and attentive. So I hate leaving this review. But had I known this ahead of time we would not have made a special Father’s Day trip up to Shingle Springs. First clue: the parking lot was empty and only four other patrons in the restaurant. We ordered our usual and boy were we shocked. The ribs appeared to be like a store bought package as well as the pulled pork on the sandwich (seemed like it was pre packaged and not homemade) I could be wrong. But that’s our opinion. The cornbread was bland, definitely not back 40’s recipe. The chicken on the rib platter was the best thing according to my husband. The meat brisket was dry and flavorless, The Mac and cheese was dried out and cold ( it went untouched). The French fries were no longer the house cut fries but Ore Ida crinkle cut (most of those were left on the plate). The potato wedges had no flavor and the onion rings had no sign of an onion. I think the family agreed that we should have ordered the fried chicken, potstickers and fried rice instead. Strange to have that on the “Specials Menu” at a BBQ restaurant. Maybe they can change it to an Asian Infused BBQ! That would be worth checking out. See attached pictures for you to be the judge.

I should have known by the name "burnt ends" that the meat would be a bit dry and it was. Chunks of BBQ brisket on a french roll served with pickles, red onions and lettuce on the plate with a small cup of their original BBQ sauce. For my "Fixin" I selected the Texas Country Fries which were pretty good. Fixin' options were: Potato Salad, BBQ Beans, Fresh Vegetable, Green Salad, Cole Slaw, Homemade Soup, Gram’s Chili, Texas Country Fries or Mac & Cheese. I asked for some hot BBQ sauce to dip the fries into and also for use on the sandwich. I thought it odd that there weren't squeeze bottles of sauce on the table, or brought with the meal, like so many other BBQ joints. You'll definitely want additional sauce! Server was friendly and efficient. Sandwich without beverage was $15.28 including tax. I had several glasses of water and not long after leaving I was thirsty again, salty food no doubt. I probably won't be back to Back Forty.

Do not get scheduled takeaway here. It gets cold and disgusting. Beef ribs, 2 bones. I can't believe how little meat was on a BEEF rib yet they charge crazy prices. Green salad, it had a sliced up tomatoe slice cut in half as " tomatoes", no bacon as advertised and the rest lettuce. Pork ribs like chicken bones and less meat. " moist brisket" drier than socks. My review seems harsh but this is an insult to any real BBQ place. Clearly what you advertise is not what you serve. Pic posted shows what you say you serve. More pics to come as people I send people to come in and send pictures. No cheese or bacon and a half sliver of tomatoe on salad BTW. You serve Costco frozen trash and charge highly without the skills and talents to prepare the food properly.

The worst experience in my life!!

Ordered some some food for take on Valentines day for the man and I . Was quoted a 15 minute wait. No biggie!!

Arrived 20 minutes later and my food wasn't even close to being ready. Was able to witness a very young lady running around waiting tables, prepping togo orders and answering the phone. I felt SOOOOO bad for her! Needless to say I was also able to listen to her tell customers they were out of most items. Even one person that was in person ask " What do you even have to offer"? Not even her fault. The new owners are cheap, cutting corners and don't care about customers! They just care about the money in their pockets. They are piggy backing of the previous owners who actually cared about customer service. After waiting to almost 50 minutes I was growing beyond upset I asked when my order will be ready. I was now quoted 5 more minutes. No sorry!! What can I do to make it right? NOTHING!!! Once we got the food it was horrible!! Cheap!!! CHEAP! Cheap!! So sad that the new owners don't care about their customers.

Do you think they even attempted to...

This is so disappointing to write, considering how special this place has been to us. Back Forty catered our wedding before they changed ownership and the food was amazing (so were the previous owners). After they changed ownership, it seemed like everything had stayed the same for a time. But we just went back this evening and it was so different. First off, the owners are now advertising a bunch of non-BBQ food and it is TACKY. I don't want wonton soup or fried rice when I go to a BBQ restaurant. Second, they changed the BBQ sauce completely. It used to be smoky and so delicious. Now it tastes like overly sweet honey mustard. It tasted awful with the pulled pork. I mentioned this to our waitress (who was lovely and did a fantastic job) and she said she'll mention it to the owners. This place has changed for the worse and unfortunately we won't be back until they go back to the real Back Forty ways and we see that tacky sign out by the...
