Baker & Cook — Restaurant in California

If you're planning to order to go: Baker and Cook is a cute, cozy café with delicious pastries and great breakfast options. We live just around the corner and have walked over several times--it definitely deserves five stars for the vibe alone.

However, I'm giving it three stars because of a recent to go experience with their salmon bagel sandwich. I ordered it to-go and instead of receiving a sandwich, I got a deconstructed version: salmon, bagel, tomatoes, cream cheese, capers, and onions all packed separately in a box. I had to assemble it myself, which, if I'd wanted to build my own bagel, I would have just gone to the store and done that!

What was even more confusing is that my wife's croissant sandwich came perfectly assembled and looked beautiful. So why did I have to play chef with mine?

I hope this review helps the staff understand that we go to restaurants to get ready-to-eat meals. We tip to receive ready-to-eat meals. It would be nice to at least be notified in advance if a sandwich or dish is deconstructed for a reason. I'd love to return, and if things improve, I'm willing to change my review after...

It is so exciting to see you up and running. Everything we had was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were totally delicious with just the right amount of fennel in the sausage gravy, with a crispy and decadent biscuit. The BLT was fabulous, very thick cut bacon with juicy seasonal tomatoes and a good (not over powering) Aoli. The CBD teas were a nice addition to the food, and our desserts of German chocolate cake and a apple cider cake donut just perfectly finished off the meal. Not to sound dramatic, but we were devastated to find out that Harvest Moon was shutting its doors and it happened while we were away during the summer. To know that the same dedication, attention and quality will be present here is a boon to the Springs. We look forward to being regulars at this excellent little...

The experience here has declined exponentially. We ordered a breakfast burrito and it came just bare on the plate not even a salsa or salad on the side for $19 + tips of course. The staff seem exhausted at any request for some reason. I literally saw them shaking their heads when another customer asked for utensils after he left behind his back. Another server was just kicking an empty bottle after clearing the table towards the back of the kitchen. If this is happening in the front, I can only imagine the situation in the back kitchen. I mean I know being a server is hard but if you hate your job this much, it might be time to look for...
