I attempted to enjoy lunch here. I should have done an about face upon realizing the counter person had a limited understanding of the English language. My friend ordered a super burrito & bottled water. I ordered the combo #4 (chicken enchilada, tostada, rice & beans) & bottled water. I asked that they add shrimp to the tostada; por favor, tostada con camerones, si? The counter person says yes and adds what appears to be an additional charge - no problem. the total comes to just over $17. So we pay & ask for our waters, at which time we are handed 2 very small Styrofoam cups. Puzzled, we say no, bottled water. He charges us $2. Uh, okaaay, I thought we just paid for those. Our food arrives, I see no shrimp on the tostada WTF? I even asked IN SPANISH! I go back to the counter & explained the tostada was supposed to have shrimp; she asks the person who took my order, all the while keeping a watchful eye on me as if I were suspect. Imagine my surprise when the counter person acted like he had absolutely NO recollection of my asking for shrimp! I returned their food, asked for a refund & will never visit this place again. It's one thing to make a mistake; something totally different to act as if your customer is attempting to steal a few shrimp!...
Read more5 stars to the young personable lady that took my order last night.
0 stars for the cook that works at night, possibly the one that flirts with the senoritas all of the time?
He doesn't pay attention to the slop he's serving.
Daytime cook Mon, Tue and Wed (I believe it's those days) has got it down.
That's my window if I want good tasting food that doesn't burn holes through the styrofoam bottom. (Put on the bottom of the containers a thin layer of lettuce and/or rice to prevent hot items from melting through.., it's like there is no middle ground here, the food served is either too hot or not hot at all)
Shredded Beef Tacos, Cheese Enchiladas and the Bean n' Cheese Burritos are the best.., IF., that one individual who knows/cares about, what they're doing is working.
I stopped going at nights just because it is not the same.😞
Update: I haven't a clue what days I should go., so I'll stop going. The last two shredded beef tacos were filled with cold old oily meat., and the cheeses they put on their other items are for the most part never melted. Tip: leave it on the grill for a couple of...
Read moreBeen coming here since 2001, this is where you go to get the very best Mexican food in Sacramento, hands down-- the best.
The flavor is on point and consistent. The portions are generous, the menu is deep, the prices are affordable, they're always open aside from major holidays and they have a drive thru. This isn't fine dining, it's family dining, and it's done right. The staff is friendly and they're family owned, the same people have been ringing me up for the last 18 years. They are a staple must-try for any restaurant in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood.
Note on the area and what you may-or-may-not encounter: The neighborhood is rough so heads up and lock your car when you come here (I lived a block away for many many years so I'm eluding to what I know can pop off). They're open 24hrs so that alone attracts the 2AM drunks, and there's a vagrant/homeless problem with the general area.
Their tacos and burritos are so good that you'll look past everything that I just mentioned; they can't control that problem so don't use it as a reason to not try some delicious, authentic, family style...
