I was going to simply delete this review, however to be fair to the owner of the business I felt it was better to update it so those that saw the review also saw the update.
Justin has already contacted me apologizing for last night and is going to address it with his staff to ensure this does not happen again to anyone. I am completely satisfied with his response to the situation and continue to encourage folks to do business locally. :-)
My apologies in advance for the length…..
I’ve lived in Boulder Creek for 30+ years and am a huge advocate of doing business locally whenever I can. I waited until today to rant about an incident with a local business, Boulder Creek Pizza. I wanted to put a little of the emotional distance between me and it so I can give a more objective accounting of the events.
Yesterday at 3:30pm I called and placed an order for delivery at 6:30pm as we were having a full house. I told them what pizzas and appetizers we wanted and were given the total (as we always pay cash and ensure the drivers get a decent tip). The total was just a little under $100. A pretty typical order for us as everyone likes something different and leftover pizza is golden in our house. We probably order from them 2 to 3 times a month and the amount is always about the same. We have had our pizzas show up late on occasion but never a big deal.
6:30 comes and goes without the pitter patter of the pizza delivery person’s footsteps on our deck. Everyone is getting on me about how hungry they are getting so I called a few minutes before 7:00 to find out about the status of our order.
I explained the situation to the individual answering the phone so he started by looking at the delivery schedule and said he couldn’t find it there. Since I know they have computer records of customers I asked him to check on our order and he said it wasn’t there. He unfortunately gave the appearance that he had no clue what he was doing. This is a small encapsulation of the 15 minutes I spent talking to him. He finally said he would check with the manager and put me on hold for another 10 minutes. When he came back on the phone he apologized and said they could not find the order. He said he could now take our order and put it in as soon as they could and get it delivered. Seeing how they were already an hour late with our order I wasn’t really in the mood to deal with them. We went out to Tony and Alba’s and had excellent pizza there instead. The whole purpose of delivery is so that you don’t have to go out. I had been working all day at home and was sweaty and tired so had to take a shower before we could leave for dinner.
I can understand that things don’t always go right when running a business as I was a business owner for 20 years. The way they handled the situation was extremely poor. If the manager was there, why didn’t he/she get off their butt and talk to me in person, offer me substantial discount on my next order, etc. That would have appeased me greatly but they chose not to do so. I am sure that the owner won’t be very happy with the manager nor the situation. We estimate that our family alone has spent almost $3000 over the past year with them. That’s $3000 they certainly won’t get this year from our family. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 out of generosity and...
Read moreThis is a great place either by yourself or with your whole entire family. They are extremely kid friendly as the kids love it as well with all the open space for horse play. This could be a casual kick back attire wear or a more dress up place to dine. The wait is a little lengthy but that's just how it is when you are waiting for freshly cooked food. What do you expect? The toppings are all organic & grown locally. The staff is always nice and friendly & I love the fact that they give me as much dressing as I want and need with no extra charge. It is worth every penny you pay for by a long shot. And if your unsatisfied for any reason what so ever, then just speak to the owner Justin and I assure you he will make it right one way or another. I have personally seen him go way above and beyond whats expected to deliver exemplary customer service. He really cares about your individual experience from the heart. I have seen them feed the homeless on many occasions and they even gave my family a couple free pizzas and salad when our house fell down the mountain and crumbled like a box & was in the midst of a major crisis. On the day when I went to pay him back a couple months later, he refused to take the money. Instead I got a big warm hug and a beautiful genuine smile as he told me that he was just glad that we were doing better & that he was just happy that he could help.=-)
Read moreOnce a year I get desperate for pizza and order here. Every year I heavily regret it. The crust is always under cooked unless you ask for them to cook it longer and then they burn it like the last "delivery" I got from them. I sat "delivery" because after waiting 2.5 hours and them telling me the driver was right down the street several times I went to pick it up. The sad part is I live 2 blocks away right down the street. I've ordered 5 pizzas over a period of 5 years and not once have they got my order correct. I would blame the employee's but having installed an espresso machine at this place it starts with the owner and flows down hill. He doesn't care being the only pizza in town so his employees dont care. I say it every year but I will never order another "pizza" from this place again. Its worth driving 5-10 minutes to get great pizza from the pastry shop in Ben Lomond. Boulder Creek Pizza and Pub is the worst pizza in the entire county and those who give this place good rating are either trying to be nice, friends of the owner or have never left Boulder Creek to eat pizza. I just cant say enough bad things about this place. Update: they used to have an espresso machine. The anger I have for this place is not confused rather from the terrible under cooked pizza and service I have received the last 5 times I have...
