I've been going to D'Carlo's for over 20 years. The atmosphere is traditional steak house-style with high-raftered ceilings and the constant, tantalizing aroma of roasting beef wafting through the building.
Their menu is diverse, offering everything from salads (oriental, Cobb, caesar, prime rib, and seared ahi) as well as Sandwiches, steaks, seafood, pasta and daily specials such as chicken fried steak, meatloaf, and fried fish.
Their soups are all excellent and obviously home-made. I've had their minestrone, French onion and clam chowder. I'd say the chowder is the best, but all are great.
They also provide freshly-baked bread and butter, which is awesome. I usually eat too much bread, and end up taking half my dinner home! I'm always too full for dessert!
About a year ago they started doing breakfast as well- everything from omelettes to eggs Benedict, to biscuits and gravy, and the servings are huge. They have hash browns as well as country potatoes... They're pretty flexible with substitutions so don't be afraid to ask.
Bottomless sodas, iced tea and coffee.... And the staff is very attentive.
Excellent service and great food. Win-win.
The prices are a little high ($13 for a salad), which is why I only give 4/5 stars.... But I'll admit I'm not accustomed to millennial pricing.
But On top of that they have a full bar, and happy hour specials almost every night, so check out their website before you go. They give discounts to seniors, veterans and first responders, if memory serves me. Support our local businesses! This is one of the...
Read moreWe all ordered the prime rib. Each was perfectly cooked to order and incredibly tender. Great flavor! However we all ordered different sizes one petite one med and the other large. They were all EXACTLY the same portion sizes and charged different prices. So don't waist your money on ordering the large for $22.00. Large should have been 22oz but no where close to it!! When we left i was still hungry! Downside, It took hostess well over 35 minutes to accommodate seating for group of five. Two tables were open and could have just pulled up an extra chair on one. Well after waiting all that time it's exactly what they did at the exact table we had mentioned to them. Meanwhile they kept seating new arrivals (Smaller groups of two and three) and we just sat in lobby waiting and waiting. Hmm??!! So this is why i give 3 stars! If you plan on a large group make sure it is a nice day outside then you can get seated quickly on the patio. It was cold and rainy when we went. I would definitely recommend eating here. FYI D Carlos you need to finish your updates on web page. It's still in limbo and it's been a month! You almost lost me as a customer because of this but decided to try anyways. Glad i did! Onion soup...
Read moreI will start with the service being a little slow, this I can understand as they were fairly crowded and they have a help wanted sign up for every position a restaurant has except manager.
I tried their French Onion soup and it was very good, close to being the best I ever had which was a pleasant surprise for Ramona.
They have a decent menu selection with prices on the higher side but in line with California in general ($12 foot longs at Subways) and comparable to the better places I have visited.
I also ordered a Bloody Mary and that was surprisingly good as well.
In an attempt to eat as healthy as possible, I ordered a Chefs Salad for the second time this week. The salad was as good as it was the last time and that was very good as well.
Of all the places I have eaten at in Ramona, this place is up in front along with Pinto Tai, but that is apples...
