
Friendly and helpful staff, but they lack communication and do not explain things in detail when it comes to contracts for training sessions. I was charged 4 times when I shouldn't have been and while I was frustrated by the ordeal, I was trying to be understanding with the situation, even though it was a nightmare to have money taken out when it shouldn't have been (luckily I had the money in my account otherwise I wouldn't have been so understanding). I signed up for the 6 week challenge, which comes with 18 sessions, and they comped 6 free sessions due to the discrepancies with the multiple charges in my account, and Shanna made it seem as though these 6 were being added on to the 18 sessions (meaning I'd have a total of 24 sessions, but would only be paying for 18). No where in her email did she say the 6 sessions were going to be deducted from my 18, meaning I would only be paying for 12 sessions. They were supposed to take the second payment out on 3/8 but never did and then when I let them know about it on 3/21 Shanna said the next payment was scheduled for 3/21, but no where in the initial email did she say the payment was pushed back due to the comped sessions. The email stated that in the system the payment was scheduled for 3/8. This is where the severe lack of communication goes. I had the money in my account on 3/8 but because they did properly explain the process about the comped sessions and I no longer have the funds for the next payment because rent is due, I'm not able to take classes until my next payment which is not only upsetting, but since they've made multiple errors with my account/contract since I started, I feel as though I should've been allowed to continue training and they could've scheduled my next payment as normal. I wanted to continue training after 6 weeks because I genuinely enjoy the classes with Chris (he is phenomenal) but will not bother spending so much money for a company who doesn't explain things thoroughly, or knows how to communicate properly. Read moreInitially when I joined this gym two years ago it was an amazing value. However in the past 6 months the quality of service and rule enforcement has dropped significantly. There's a homeless gentleman that has a membership that sleeps in mats and steals food. They eliminated complimentary towels for showers due to theft without investing in discouragement of the behavior aside from printed signs. Equipment takes longer and longer to be repaired. After completing my 2 year contract , my membership ends without an option to continue on a month by month basis without a new contract. Conclusion: look elsewhere for better value on a gym membership.
Update: Two days after this initial review, the manager accepted an impromptu meeting with me to discuss the issues and address them individually and sought improvement recommendations. This went a long way to building goodwill and I waited until now to see how the results of this meeting turned out and thus far I have been thoroughly impressed. The staff member who helped me initially on the first day was raw but very enthusiastic about her work and will go far with experience. Tiffany the manager made sure to take my concerns and reporting of issues seriously. I am hopeful that this gym's trajectory continues to rise in a meteoric fashion. Even though it is associated with a corporation, the owner, Brad, has included features that I previously only enjoyed at a private gym, such as free towel use, clean bathrooms with private showers, fully functional machines, and opportunities for one on one or group training sessions. He is professional and knowledgeable whenever I have a question.
In addition, the office staff is exemplary. The manager, Tiffany, is warm and approachable, willing to help me with any questions I’ve had. She even told me about using my AAA card to get a better membership rate! And in general, all the employees are friendly and personable.
My trainer, Thor Garcia, is pretty amazing. He clearly is an expert in all things fitness, and has readily modified my workouts to meet my needs and has worked extensively to help me create a nutrition program that works for me. One of his best qualities is that he regularly challenges me to work hard during training, giving me constant encouragement and correcting my form when necessary. Although Thor us the first trainer whom I’ve worked with, I can recognize quality and excellence when I see it, and I eagerly look forward to any training session I have with him.
