8-12-22 ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

My friend took me to this place because she grew up in Altadena and frequented it, but she hadn't been there for awhile. So, we were having a girl's day out and decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE! ๐Ÿ˜–

First off, a Server drops off small bowls of chips and salsa stacked on top of each other, sits it on the table and walks away. The next person takes our drink order. She acted like she couldn't understand English. Go figure. ๐Ÿ™„ We order the drinks. She drops them off at the table and I noticed something that shouldn't have been in the drink. So I got her attention and she took the drink away, but never apologized for it. A few mins later she returned with a new drink.

The next person comes to the table, yep...three different people at this point. I later found out that the third person, Sylvia, is the Manager. ๐Ÿ˜ซ She walks up with pad & pen and says " "What do you want to order"? No hello, Hi my name is Sylvia, what can I get for you. NOTHING FRIENDLY or professional. I looked up from the menu and said, so what is your name? That's when she quickly and rudely said, "Sylvia, What do you want?" I said, you know, it's usually professional courteous to speak to the customer, introduce yourself and then ask what they "would like to order". She didn't respond. We ordered the taco and enchilada plate and a bean and cheese burrito. When my friend sliced into the burrito it was super dry inside...the rice and beans had absolutely NO SAUCE, NO MOISTURE. ..JUST DRY. So, that's when I went up to the counter and asked to speak with the Mgr. Sylvia walks up and says, Can I help you? I said, You're the Mgr.? She said yes, how can I help you? I said, That's very surprising. She said, Why? I said, Because you're not nice and you are a reflection of this restaurant and your staff. Again she said, how can I help you? I said the burrito is super dry. There's not a drop of sauce or anything in it to make it juicy inside. She said, Did she ask for it to be "wet"? I said, No. She didn't want sauce all over it, but she didn't expect it to be totally dry inside. She walks over to the table to inspect the 2 bitefuls missing from the burrito. I said, Please take that meal off of the check. She just walked away.

THIS PLACE WAS A RESTAURANT NIGHTMARE!!

And I know you're wondering why we didn't just leave at the start. Because we had been running around all afternoon and we were famished and just wanted to have a good meal.

I hope the Owner of this place, Marguerita Cortez, reads this review because she needs to know how SOME OF HER CUSTOMERS are being treated!!

Bottom line, there are MUCH BETTER Mexican Restaurants to go to where you will have a courteous staff/Servers and great food... than to SUFFER such horrible treatment that this establishment gave!!

Never...

I arrive in the afternoon around 430pm, I was the 5th table in the restaurant which meant it was not busy yet. Did not get greeted as I came in and sat down. I ordered an appetizer and a carne asada plate. Quickly enjoyed the arrival of my appetizer. However about 25-30 later after seeing the restaurant fill up to max seating and 3 tables after me receive their orders before me I became bothered. I asked the waitress several times about my order and failed to give me an answer. Finally 40mins into this experience I received my order. To my long wait and surprise the meat was over cooked, tough and had the consistency of rubber and jerky. I had mad e several requests to the waitress and asked for other items and she failed to bring them. As the afternoon went on more people waited outside to be seated. I spoke to the manager about my meal and he gave me % off my check. I informed him of his waitress and the lack of service she provided. Overall I would not recommend this place poor quality food, poor service, good location. Its convenient if you live in Altadena, but I will not be returning to this restaurant, even if it is convenient. Much better restaurants down in Pasadena. Don't waste your money here! For those who do frequent this restaurant shame on...

Came here to eat on the weekend. The atmosphere is nice and gives a nice vibe. The hostess however was not that great. She seated us in a tight spot and we had to move around because she complained about not being able to get through. The chips and salsa they start you off with are great though. The chips were fresh and crunchy and the salsa was flavorful, and not too spicy. The rice and beans that come with the combo plates are good. But the enchiladas rancheras I ordered came with no red sauce or green sauce which was disappointing to me. The burritos are HUGE and according to my family, they were decent. The fish tacos though, stay away from them. They microwave the tortillas and the fish is a tiny skinny breaded piece. My grandma and aunt were disappointed in that. Also, they don't serve their margaritas with tequila. They stated they only have wine and beer. The mango margarita was still good though. Also, I gave 3 stars because I had read a review that said they found a hair in their food. WELL, A CUSTOMER ACROSS FROM US FOUND A LONG HAIR IN HER FOOD TOO SO IT KINDA RUINED THE...

We happened to be in the area visiting friends and were drawn in by the eclectic patio and decor. The waitress was kind but had a large number of tables on her hands. We very much enjoyed the chips and salsa that came in mini jars as they were extremely flavorful and the texture was great! The food was good but the Chile Colorado was bland and had many more onions versus meat. The tortillas were also quite good but the food was only saved by the delicious flavoring of the salsa. I would come again but maybe just for the appetizers.

The decor at this place is so Beautiful, also love the Music. The food was Okay, My Chile Relleno was So Sad. Absolutely SAD. Tiny w Barely any Cheese, My Enchilada had no Cheese and Very Runny Salsa.the Beans could have been cooked a Bit longer. No Excuse for a Saturday evening. I'm not Bashing this Place I'm Just telling you my Experience for the 1st time here. If it wasn't for the Flan I'd give it only one Star. The Flan is Home made and Amazing ๐Ÿ‘. Definitely wouldn't come back unless I want Flan.
