This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant when we lived in Orangevale. We also frequented their sister restaurant that was in Citrus Heights, but preferred this little place that was close to home. When we moved to Fair Oaks, we continued coming here because we loved the food, friendly staff, and quaint atmosphere. They even serve fresh squeezed lemonade which is a nice treat. Unfortunately, they have outgrown this location, with the closure of their sister restaurant, it’s always crowded and a wait to be seated. Our last visit, we patiently waited for a table, were seated and ordered our food. We munched on stale chips and waited for our food. We finally got our food and dug in, we were hungry. Then we noticed that we had an audience. People were lined up in side the door, facing the restaurant, maybe 10 feet from us. It was very uncomfortable trying to eat and relax with eyes looking at you. We got the rest of our food to go and promptly left. We have since found a couple of other places we enjoy closer...

We have been going to La Placita for almost 20 years and they cannot be beat! When I happen to end up at any other Mexican restaurant I always find it disappointing in comparison!!!
WE LOVE THE OWNERS AND STAFF!!! We have become close and truly look forward to spending our time with them enjoying ALL of our special occasions such as birthdays, holiday festivities, anniversaries, baby announcements, you name it! We even make up reasons to celebrate just so we can go!
Fridays and Saturdays are busy. Expect a little wait time. The fresh hot chips and salsa (keep 'em coming) will make up for it once your seated! EVERYTHING is DELICIOUS, however, my top 5 favorites are: Red enchiladas (best sauce EVER!) Ground beef tacos Chili relleno Chili relleno burrito w/ chicken Chili Colorado Ok top 6 because I can't leave out the Patrick burrito!
It's literally the BEST! You will NOT regret it but be forewarned: YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO GO...
Read moreIt felt like the waitresses didn’t really want to be there... We ordered some food, but it was low quality and poorly made. Honestly, the best part was when we ordered a few micheladas—if you can even call them that.
I didn’t even ask for a michelada, but they brought me one anyway. I'm not the type to complain, so I figured it was a mistake and just drank it.
The “michelada” was just a regular glass with a couple fingers of Clamato and a splash of Chamoy. It wasn’t the right size and didn’t even have the proper ingredients. They charged $11 for that—basically just a small bottle of Modelo with a tiny bit of Clamato.
On the second round, I specifically told the waiter I only wanted a Modelo, not a michelada, because I didn’t like the first one—and yet he brought the same thing again. Same with my friends, who also just asked for beer.
Ridiculous prices and poorly executed all around.insane expensive poor...
