We visited this location for the first time. We ordered the $9.99 All You Can Eat Fish or Chicken. You may order battered fish, chicken, or both, along with 2 side orders and 2 huspuppies. Refills are ordered at counter, and include all the above.
Having worked fast food in the past, I could tell the manager was a bit frazzled, but he greeted each guest courteously, answering the exact same questions politely as a new order was placed. When we approached the counter, I told him that he looked tired. He said that he had worked a full shift at another job before coming to work at Long John Silver's. He quickly learned that he was very short staffed and had to complete another person's work, as well as his own, before opening time. We placed our order and sat down to wait for our food.
As we sat, I saw that the manager was the only one attending the counter, and there was only one staff member cooking. And yet... our food was served to us (as opposed to being called to the counter) fresh, hot, and delicious. As we ate the manager cleaned the dining room and stocked the condiment counter. When we ordered seconds, again, it was delivered hot, fresh, and without mistakes in our re-orders.
I cannot put into words how impressed I was with the manager and his lone companion. I have been in his shoes and know exactly how stressful it can be. Yet this humble man never once became irritated with customers, doing work that is usually assigned to a crew member, cleaning, or the constant flow of guests.

Read moreI ordered salmon dinners for my elderly Mother (and me) for Valentine’s Day. She loves salmon, and this seemed like a good choice, all things considered. I placed the order, and got a confirmation from Door Dash. After numerous updates to the time (the initial delivery estimate was 24 minutes), the food finally arrived an hour and forty-five minutes later! I could not reach DoorDash using any of the links they sent me, so I could get no status. Did I mention that the restaurant is 3 miles away (less than 10 minutes)?
I decided that I would just make the best of it though, and happily opened up the now cold food, only to find that the dinners were MISSING THE COLESLAW I had ordered for both of them! By then there wasn’t much point trying to make it right in any way.
After heating it up, the food was good. I wouldn’t say that the dinner was worth the price for what I received though, and I DEFINITELY would not have tipped the driver the 20% I pre-tipped him if I had known or been able to tip after the fact, given that he didn’t even bother to knock, ring the doorbell, call, or text to let me know the food was on my front porch. Luckily I saw the car leaving. I did get a couple of texts saying the order was in (after 35 minutes), and that the driver was on his way an hour before he showed up.
