Unfortunately, I’ve been duped to try Nessy Burgers twice… expecting great things from all of the reviews but we’ve been disappointed with each visit. I would suggest that prospective diners find another place to spend their money.
The only things going for the burgers are the toasted bun (although it’s a bit dry) and the generous 1/2 pound size. But, the burger itself is a disastrous Nessy puck which is overcooked (despite asking for medium-rare), flavorless, too lean, and dry. For the price, it isn’t very good. That’s being extremely kind, I’d suggest.
Next, we tried the chili-cheese nachos. Another failure… the generic, round tortilla chips- which are taken directly from a baseball stadium concession stand- were soggy and limp from all of the cheese and chili piled on top of the chips. We couldn’t pick up the chips to eat them without the toppings spilling off and into the styrofoam container. Not sure that nachos are fork food but that’s how these bad boys roll. Maybe I should have expected nacho soup but maybe they could have used chips which have some backbone and integrity. On the bright side, the chili was actually quite tasty.
Finally, the tri-tip steak sandwich. Where do I begin with this atrocity? My expectations were lofty when I ordered it considering it’s a steak sandwich on a hoagie roll. Yum. What’s not to love, right? Again, complete failure. The bun was sliced completely through and soggy beyond recognition. I couldn’t even pick it up to eat like a sandwich without it falling apart resulting in the meat and toppings being thrown everywhere. The tri-tip was cooked just fine but cut incorrectly and far too thick, so that the meat was very tough and almost impossible to bite/cut with my teeth and a ferocious pull with my hands. The onions are simply a thick-cut, raw onion slice rather than sautéed and caramelized. How do you mess up a sandwich this badly? I so wanted to love it but it was a total letdown.
On the bright side, the French fries are good. ...

If you’re looking for the ultimate burger adventure, Nessie Burgers is the place to be! I recently visited with my five best friends—or should I say four, because that’s just how wildly fun and intense our experience was. The vibes were off the charts, and the burgers? Absolutely phenomenal.
From the very first bite, it was clear we were in for something special. The flavors were bold, juicy, and perfectly crafted, making each mouthful an explosion of taste. The experience was so intense, one of my friends was so moved that he literally took his hat off mid-bite—a true testament to how mind-blowingly good these burgers are!
What truly elevated our visit, though, was the exceptional customer service provided by Ana, Adriana, and Lalo. They are absolutely the best when it comes to making guests feel welcome and recommending the perfect dishes. Their friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and spot-on food suggestions enhanced our dining experience tenfold. Thanks to their guidance, we enjoyed the most flavorful combinations that left us thoroughly satisfied and eager to return.
The atmosphere was lively, the staff incredibly friendly—thanks again to Ana, Adriana, and Lalo—and the overall energy of Nessie Burgers made it a day we’ll never forget. If you’re craving a burger experience that’s more than just a meal—something that leaves you in awe—do yourself a favor and head to Nessie Burgers. It’s...
Read moreThis is our favorite burger spot in north San Diego! If we're ever returning to San Diego southbound on the I-215/I-15 and we're the slightest bit hungry, we almost always stop in for a burger or a steak sandwich and fries! They're located right off the I-15 & SR 76 junction on Old Hwy 395. They don't have an indoor dining room and it's outdoor patio dining with shade umbrellas at each table. Of all the times we've dined here, we've never been shut out of finding an available place to sit and eat. My wife & I share either their Nessy Burger OR steak sandwich & an order of fries OR onion rings. Both their burger & steak sammy are well portioned and can be easily shared, unless you're really hungry or a huge eater w/ a healthy appetite. They're extremely delicious, and I'd recommend eating it there versus taking your food to-go... I'd probably still taste good, but they're best when eaten right after your number is called. Restrooms and outdoor patio are clean. Staff have been friendly every time we've dined here. I always say I'll buy one of their merch (Nessy t-shirt) and always forget to get one. I'll bet if you stop by to try them just once, you'll become a fan and come back whenever you're in the area. I'd be very surprised if you don't fall in love...
