If you haven't been inside since August 2017, you are in for a VERY pleasant surprise! The market has been totally re-modeled and has a really nice look to it - spacious (higher ceiling) and even smells good. Not scary/dirty as it used to be. Everything is super clean and nicely stocked - the small produce section even looks inviting (before the remodel, I would not have purchased produce from PMM even in a pinch). Very friendly clerk said that the new owner wants to transform the market into a nice place to shop and plans to expand the fresh produce section, the butcher department, the deli, and wine/beer selection. On the few occasions I have been there the older woman who smokes has acted as if it was an inconvenience to take my money. She must be the owner or related to the owner because her lack of any semblance of professionalism is pathetic. The last time (and it will be the last time) I was there she didn't even speak to me as I was checking out - no hello, no "That will be ninety five dollars please", no thank you - just put out her hand for the money. They have saved me in soooo many occasions when I forget to get something on the weekends, late nights and have to prepare a meal for guests out of town. They make you feel like home, excellent customer service and they know their products and where it is, if they have it or not.
