Been wanting to try this place for mths now. Finally door dashed today. Sooo underwhelmed with Everything I order.
First off, I base my reviews of restaurants on that cusines signature dish. I do not compare restaurant to restaurant.
Second, the basic combo Pho is my goto order when first trying any Vietnamese restaurant. If they can master their pho broth, then I know the intuition of the chefs/cooks will playout in every other dish they offer.
I am one of those pho people that enjoy the broth at its purest state after simmering for hours. I do not pollute any pho broth by adding condiments. I had to compromise with RiceNRolls broth. I had to actually break my fish sauce outta fridge, just to add umami, and use the condiments provided. For me, this rarely happens with restaurant broth.
RiceNRoll broth had zero flavor, not just saltiness, but zero basic pho seasoning herbal flavor. One thing it did have was a decent beefy depth in the broth, that's the 2stars. I paid $16 for a large, I got 3 slices super thin brisket, 5 slices of rare beef, 3 strands of tripe, 1 cube of tendon, 2 slices of flank, I think. The meat to noodles ratio was lacking for the value of the price paid.
The spring rolls were fine. If anyone messes up spring rolls, just hang up the chef hat.
Ok, now, this is what threw me over the edge. I order a Vietnamese Coffee, light ice, less sugar. WTAF riceNroll?!!
I got a generic latte posing as a Vietnamese Coffee. Anyone who has had a Vietnamese Coffee understands the flavor profile. RiceNRoll Coffee had Zero, I mean ZERO boldness, not even a touch of the bitterness undertones, and why The Hell would you put creamer/halfnhalf in my Vietnamese Coffee. Where the hell was the condensed milk. I requested less sweet, Not less Vietnamese!
Yeah, so in conclusion. It is blantly apparent that most Ethic restaurants in small towns cater to the demographic. They can get away with less effort being put into showcasing a cusine in the best possible light without much backlash.
I'm so dissapoint I have yet to find a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Manteca. I have tried every single one. I live in Stockton but on the outskirts closer to Manteca and wish I didn't have to drive to north Stockton every time I wanted a decent bowl of Pho.
Someone sign my petition to bring at least 1 decent Vietnamese Restaurant to SouthSide Stockton! Everyone's...
Read moreThis is the kind of atmosphere that downtown manteca needs more of. We were a party of 3 and came in around 6:40ish. Even tho they closed around 7pm we still felt a warm welcome and were seated immediately. The restaurant had a nice modern vibe to it and the employees were all very nice especially Tony. As a table we ordered Fried pork egg rolls and Grilled chicken fall rolls. Both appetizers were very fresh and keeping in mind that they were about to close is very pleasant. I had the pho chicken and it was delicious, the noodles were very soft and the broth had a lot of flavor. I did have a request to have grilled chicken instead of boiled and they accommodated to my request with ease and were very nice about it. Also when we had asked there to be no cilantro in anything it was also accomplished with ease. Another dish I would highly recommend is the beef short ribs and rice. The ribs were so flavorful and tender I believe it to be my new favorite dish now. Lastly, if you don't feel to hungry and just want a nice sweet treat you must get the thai milk tea with black boba. As a person addicted to boba tea I would see myself coming here again and again even just for tea. The boba was chewy and sweet as well as the tea was creamy and smooth. All in all very nice place to go have lunch or dinner at. We will be going again and again in...
Read moreI’m a huge food fanatic so I came here to try it. From the moment I walked in, I was pleased with the appearance of the restaurant. It’s a cute place! I ordered the pho spicy beef stew, lemongrass chicken plate, & taro milk tea. The portions of the food are acceptable for the prices however, I didn’t enjoy the food much. The broth of the spicy beef stew didn’t have much flavor and although it’s sold as “spicy” it wasn’t spicy at all. The meat was also quite tough. Being a huge fan of lemongrass, I was excited to try the lemongrass chicken. As soon as I took a bite, I was disappointed. There was no flavor of lemongrass… there actually wasn’t much flavor at all. Not to mention, the chicken was dry. Inside the dish, they added tomatoes which gave the dish a very offputting sour flavor.
Although I probably wouldn’t come back for the food, I will say the taro milk tea was amazing. I’ve been to dozens of milk tea spots however this is the first place where I had no complaints of the drinks. The taro flavor was very strong yet not too overpowering. The drink also didn’t taste chalky or grainy like some places i’ve been to. Not only was the flavor and texture just right, the sweetness was perfect! It was...
