We have been there quite a few times and it is always good and service is fast. This last time I was disappointed. It was around 1:15 pm and near their closing time after the lunch crowd. We no sooner sat down and the waitress came and asked is what we wanted to order, feeling rushed. Once our food arrived it was served warm and nicely plated. For my hamburger, no condiments were offered and we had to ask several times for these items. The bottom hamburger bun was partially wet so I tore that off. The waitress slapped our tag down on the table with no thank you. No refills were offered on our beverage. The owner was sitting nearby and several times he came over as he anticipated our needs or overheard us talking but no apology for the poor service we received. The owner's wife asked us if everything was okay, she was very nice. There was no one that said thank you to us as we left. Dissapointed with our waitress and lack of customer service. We will go back again some other time as perhaps this was just an...
Read moreI’m sorry to be negative. I assume this is a family owned business and I go out of my way to support them. Sadly, let this serve as a wake up call. We wanted to go to a late lunch with our son and daughter in law who live in Lockford. The original place they picked was closed, so we went here. I guess it is a business with a long local history. Don’t mind supporting those folks….But….this restaurant needs a total overhaul. It doesn’t seem particularly clean. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Frankly, the meat was borderline rancid—off putting texture, lack of beef flavor—leaving me hoping I don’t get sick after the three bites I had. My husband ordered a big salad. They didn’t bother to dry the lettuce before serving, so mostly he was served a bowl full of water. Hometown diners can be award winners! Please put in the over site and...
Read moreThe food quality, large portions, and reasonable prices set this simplistic and clean little diner, apart from most. Oh and their excellent service! I've always had warm and friendly experiences with the staff. Some of the menu choices include sausage from the famous Lockeford Meats ( directly across the street from here). It's great to see local businesses support eachother; another plus! I've brought visiting family and friends here for breakfast, and they're all hooked. It is normal and almost expected to leave here with a to go box, with the amount of food you get. With all of that said, the place tends to be very busy. This is one of Lockeford's little gems. Definitely worth the visit as a local, or if passing...
