In an attempt to make this review quick and to the point (which is not my fortè) •FERNANDA TRULY NEEDS TO BE FIRED• I can no longer support this establishment after being completely disrespected on numerous occasions by employee Fernanda. Ive received my order wrong on several occasions, which I never followed up on because by the time I found out, they were already closed. Also, I didnt think it was worth my time trying to bring it up at a later time. Same went for when I was hung up on 5 times in one night while trying to order because she (or someone working with her that night) didn't understand English(?) the business(?) me(?) very well (if I had to guess a reason). On top of that, not only did she try to overcharge me for my order when I went to pick it up, but it was wrong again! So when she messed up my order again and had the audacity to blame my boyfriend calling him a liar stating he didn't say "no spinach and no mushrooms" when he ordered (even though yes he totally did, I was there). She refused to fix it in any sort of way and further denied that they have any sort of manager/management to address, hence my review. I will not give any more of my money to this establishment that lacks not only any sort of management but also any sort of customer service and seems to be ran by a pissed off, entitled, high school kid, with zero sense of morals, ethics, or integrity. Its really unfortunate the other girl that used to work there seemed to vanish over night and in her place is Fernanda... Anyhow, with that being said, I can Not recommend this place to anyone unless you don't mind that when they get your order wrong because they got it wrong as in they didnt understand what you said somehow, and even though you might be allergic to what theyre trying to give you with this wrong order, just know its your own fault for paying them for anything in the 1st place at all.
Also, I marked "other" for the question "what did you get" because I literally didn't get anything except ripped off and disrespected. And neither of those were given as an option.
Totally Irresponsible. To...
Read moreHard core New Yorkers may be offended. Others may find this place quite delightful. A local eatery that is more like a dinner rather than a mom & pop joint.
The menu is vast and there is a dish for everyone including vegans, vegetarians, kids, fruitarians, dessert only, and those with no teeth. Meals range from a bagel to a full course, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
On this first time eat, I had the waffle plate and pastrami and cheese. I saw the French toast and malibu omelette. Which appeared quite appetizing. There is a variety of omelette creations that should be tried.
The waffle batter must have vanilla because it is truly flavorful. Crisp on the top and edges and soft on the outside. Not soggy. Not hard. Accurately cooked. The dish is accompanied by eggs and bacon for under $10 bucks. What is noticeable is the eggs appear to be larger in size and the waffle was delightful. Get whip cream instead of butter and syrup.
The pastrami had good flavor. Very cheesy. It also had lots of fat which became annoying to eat. Unless fat meat is your groove. However, the golden sourdough 🍞 and presentation of the meal was mouth-watering. I would not have the pastrami again but would try another sandwich with the grilled sourdough.
Portion size was more than adequate. I arrived@130 pm and timeliness of order was 10 minutes. Food is prepared upon order. Masha are required. Seating is limited but it is not a place to eat and hangout all day. Wheelchair accessible. Dine-in is available but you'll likely eat outside. Parking? Prepare to walk about a block. Bathroom, unisex toilet, was decent but on the verge of a scary gasoline pit stop bathroom. Prices are similar to...
Read moreI miss the good old days when the food was better! I've been eating here for 16 years and I'm afraid it's time to stop. My list of items that are no longer as good as they used to be kept growing. The one that pushed me over the edge was the burger I got last time. My grandmother, my girlfriend, and I ordered burgers and we couldn't even figure out how they could get so bad. The color was off, the flavor was terrible, and the texture was not like any burger I've ever had (not in a good way). I was seriously worried about getting sick. I also wished I had gone anywhere else because I can't think of a worse burger I've had, even at the gas station. This is after a decade and a half of telling people how good those Sunrise Deli burgers are.
I wish this was an isolated incident, but after the obvious decline in the food and service quality, and several regrettable purchases in a row, I think it's finally time to write a review. If it weren't for the covid-time 40-minute ordeal and transporting food home for the family, I'd try to return the food. Over the course of my last 6 or so meals, I regretted buying 5 of them.
There was an ownership change a while back and usually some things change, but this is too much. If they needed more money, I'd rather they raised the prices and kept the quality. That way the existing clientele could know what to expect. Lowering the food quality causes a shift in clientele where the loyal customers leave and you have to find a new audience. That may work in the long run but you'll definitely get some complaints.
Maybe I'll check back in a year and see if anything's changed. My dad enjoyed his salad...
