Take A Bite of Coloma Deli — Restaurant in California

Okay, so Im a local in Lotus and I go here whenever I feel like a quality burger but don’t feel like driving all the way into town. I really like all the girls that work in the deli, they are very nice and work EXTREMELY HARD to get your order out as fast as possible which I know is tough having worked in kitchens/restaurants for 6 years off life. The food is always good (not anything to die for but good). My issue is that whenever I feel like a burger and not driving into town, I go here and order one of theirs for 9.50 which isn’t a bad price but it is when you consider it doesn’t come with fries or a side at all! I always forget this as 9.50 for just a burger just doesn’t seem right. And I always get it home and realize that “oh yeah, they don’t give you fries with it”. So this time I remembered to order fries as well and it turns out they charge you 3.75 for a handful of them. It’s not even like a speedster order, just a handful they fry to order and toss in the bag with the burger. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is again, I really like the people the own and run the joint but I mean COME ON. 15 bucks for a hamburger and fries (no drink) from a little hole in the wall deli? It’s not the kinda place where the food justifies the price. I would love to see them add an option on the menu for a “meal deal” and maybe add a buck to the price of the burger for the handful of fries that get tossed in the bag, but this last experience has turned me off to going back. I understand that they use their location as a tourist trap to get max value from all the aho*e tourists that visit our beautiful community and litter and drink and drive and just be dumba tourists so I guess there is a little justice in them charging those kind of prices towards those type of people, but there should absolutely be a “secret menu” or “local deals” that are more reasonable and I probably won’t go back until something of the sort gets...

What a hidden gem! So my fellow wouldn’t eat a Philly cheesesteak since he had one back in Philly. Any of the ones he had outside of Philly had been crap in comparison until he had tried one from this joint, now he doesn’t want to stop eating them. My mother swears by their burgers, says the Philly’s are amazing but she is a burger person and that these are the best burgers she has ever had. We have figured out the best of both worlds, she gets a burger, I get a Philly and we split- it’s perfect! Now there is no shrinkage here in the amount of food you get like other places and you get your money worths. I also don’t find it a downside it being inside a gas station because the river is right there and as soon as you find a spot your food is cooled down enough that you can inhale it. Trust me you will, kind of like the chick on Cone Heads does with her sandwich. You work hard for your money and no better way to treat yourself than getting yourself something from Take a Bite and enjoying some time by the river...

$18+ for burger and fries. It's great food, the absolute best burgers around, but hard to justify eating there often with a price ticket like that. Also they changed their prices recently apparently and haven't updated the menu board but there's a tiny handwritten sign behind another sign off to the side saying they've raised the prices.
