HOPE THE MEAT'S FRESHER THAN THE JALAPENOS

The meat counter here actually looked really good. I understand why all the reviews are happy with it. I came for the produce though and it was a tiny section of tired greens. I picked through the jalapenos to find one that didn't have the black spots that turn into bigger black spots of mold. Only found one that called my name and grabbed an avocado and bottle of coke to go with it.

The avocado was $1.29 and I assume the medio litro bottle (the large one) was about the same because my total was under $4. The girl at the register and didn't give me a hard time about using Visa to make a $3 dollar purchase, so that was cool. I felt pretty cramped in the small store. Living close to Monument spoils me I think. Not a bad place for this area, but I need something bigger when doing my shopping. With...

Having just returned from a trip to Mexico, I woke up with a huge craving for some authentic birria. This was the first time I had gone to Taqueria y Carniceria Martínez and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The owner was very polite when taking our order and mentioned to us that the birria recipe was a secret recipe that had been passed down from his father. It was served with onion, cilantro and a side of handmade corn tortillas (only available on Sundays). I feel like their salsa could have been a little spicier but that’s not reason enough to dock them any points. They have a pretty extensive menu so I am curious to go back and try their other dishes. In the meantime, if you are looking for authentic birria, this is...

I came in @ 8:35 and was ordering dinner by myself . Not with a large party . I ordered pozole which is already made and 1 taco and felt very unwelcomed when asked about dining in because the gentleman at the register must have been in a hurry to close . Head made sure to remind me that they closed in 20 min and all food would be prepared to go but I could sit if I wanted. Who says that? When he told the cooks my order he told them it was “to go” assuming I didn’t speak Spanish. When I asked him why he told them that when I asked to dine in he said they closed on 18 min. lol. I haven’t even been given my food yet . At this point it doesn’t matter what my...

My daughter and I stopped in here after being leaving a different spot in town (the other spot had over hour wait). We felt very welcome from the moment we walked in the doors. I spent less than $30 to get a beer, a Gatorade, a plate of nachos, and a crispy taco. This filled my daughter and I both up. Food was amazing and staff was nice. Loved sitting outside, we will be back!

Popped in on a whim to feed my contractors. We had different items including a carne asada burrito, a grilled chicken burrito, a torta and some tacos. It was all delicious. Bonus points for the pan dulce for a sweet treat after your meal. I really enjoyed the mom and pop family atmosphere and look forward to returning next time I’m in Martinez and craving Mexican.
