Koney King Restaurant — Restaurant in Calumet Township

This place has good food. We have been making this our first stop each time we come home from Indy for like the last 4 times. Them chili chess fries, chili cheese polish, and chili cheese burgers are slammin!! Y'all better get y'all some.

Okay just went again on Saturday which happened to be our visit back to Gary. This time the food was horrible!! Came in from Indy and this was our first stop as usual. We couldn't eat it. I usually get chili cheese polish but got a chili cheese burger instead as did my husband.

The buns were very thick. Ewwwe. I took some of the top bun but Ronnie had to take the whole bun off and was left with just the meat. We also had a bowl of chili and even it wasn't good. We left most of the food there, paid, and left.

This was a horrible experience!!! It's usually really good. I'm not sure what...

To me, Koney King is a place I randomly go when I drive by and decide to stop. My fam ate it in their youth and turned me on, so I definitely won't stop remembering the good taste of the chili burger. I stopped in today for the first time since Covid and it's nothing like a good ole chili burger with that lil bit of grease and a Coke. Good treat for a cheat day. They still have cool staff because the girl knew what I wanted and how to cook it though it wasn't on...

I know that this place is in Gary, but I absolutely love this place! Wether you're talking about their chili cheese dogs, chili cheese burgers, or chili cheese fries, they're all excellent! I also like the 1950's style lunch counter and old school vibe in general. I don't trek to Gary often anymore since I moved out, but when I do I always stop here! The only thing stopping me from giving a 5 star review is the fact that it is based in Gary. That's not a knock...
