Shark's Fish & Chicken on 5th — Restaurant in Calumet Township

I used to love coming to this place, especially for a pizza puff. But recently, I witnessed something that made me rethink my visits. I saw the workers pulling pre-cooked chicken from below—chicken that looked like it had been sitting there for who knows how long. It raises questions: How long has it been sitting there? What conditions is it stored in? Are there any uninvited “guests” down there with it?

If you decide to eat here, proceed with caution. If you call ahead for an order, double-check to ensure your chicken is dropped fresh. I’ve seen them reheating pre-cooked chicken by just throwing it in the grease to warm it up. Be sure to ask for freshly cooked food to avoid any surprises.

Haven't been to sharks in many years actually but we needed a last minute dinner so the wife picked up a 10 piece wing and perch dinner. Surprisingly the food was delicious. Wings seasoned very nicely. If you have a sensitive tongue it may be a bit much. They were nice and crispy/hot. Nice amount of fries, I'd like a little more but not a bad amount. Perch was perfectly seasoned and cooked. A nice crisp on the outside and soft, tender on the inside. Again would love more fries with both meals but hey.. Came with a few BBQ sauces. Apparently, customer service is not to be expected from this establishment. I order a combination fish, fried soft with wings and a small okra on the side. When I arrived at my mom's house. I had a side of french fries instead. I phoned the establishment and was told that he heard me say fries. I did not say fries. I don't eat the fries that come with the meal. He would not prepare the fried okra unless I paid for another order. Unfortunately this is not my first bad experience at this location. It will be my last. I will never patronize this place again.
