This local restaurant has a lot going for it unfortunately there are a few things that will keep me from visiting again. Nonetheless, I will leave them 4 stars for the very friendly staff and good food. Listed below are the pro's and cons of this restaurant.
Pros - Friendly and attentive staff, nice atmosphere, garlic shrimp is absolutely delicious, they offer table service, table tops as well as bar seats.
Cons - The menu pricing does not align with what they charge you, in one instance an additional 14 % more was charged.
They advertise a "Cadillac Margarita" on their Happy Hour menu, but it is made with cheap well tequila (not 100% agave) and cheap orange liqueur for $11.00 dollars. This is not a Cadillac, not even close. You can pay $14.00 dollars and get a better tequila (100% agave), but they still use the cheap orange liqueur, and not Grand Mariner or Cointreau. Many restaurants make their Cadillac's differently, but all should be using premium alcohol, not well tequila that is not even 100% agave.
It was disappointing to be mislead twice on the same visit my...
ย ย ย Read moreTHIS ESTABLISHMENT GOES BACK TO THE 1950'S. IT IS LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF 7th STREET AND META STREET OFF OXNARD BLVD. THIS RESTAURANT HAS GOT TO BE THE CLEANEST AND MOST BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN VENTURA COUNTY IN MY OPINION. THEY HAVE A GOOD SELECTION OF A GREAT NUMBER OF MEXICAN DISHES TO SELECT FROM. THE LOPEZ FAMILY, JORGE AND HIS SON JULIO OPENED AND REMODELED THIS PLACE 22 YEARS AGO, AND THEY DID AN INCREDIBLE JOB. PLEASE DO NOT LET THE APPEARANCE OF THE SURROUNDING BUSINESS DISCOURAGE YOU FROM TRYING THIS PLACE ONE TIME. I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE BACK AGAIN. ( P.S. IN 1954 I WAS 10 YEARS OLD AND I WOULD COME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT FORMALLY KNOWN AS EL NOPALITO " THE LITTLE CACTUS " TO SELL THE OXNARD PRESS COURIER TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER, MR: RUDY PALAZUELOS AND HIS FAMILY. SORRY TO SAY, HE IS NO...
ย ย ย Read moreA giant tent was blocking the entrance, so we circled around, looking for it twice. The chips were stale. The salsa was one container of Pico de Gallo and one sauce that was hot. We ordered margaritas. One blended with strawberries, and it had a bug in it. Im pretty sure they scooped the bug oit and handed it back instead of remaking it. I asked for no salt on mine. Mine came out with salt. Instead of making a new one, they poured it into a new glass, thus filling it with salt. I asked the waitress if she could ask them to remake it because I have high blood pressure and can't have straight salt. She snatched the glass before I could take the straw. At this point, instead of cursing her out, we decided it was best to leave. Customer service needs an improvement asap. Couldn't tell you what the foods like because we didn't make...
