Old school soda shop setup. '70s and '80s lunch boxes and nostalgia all around! Really a cool setup. We thought we were going to walk in at 6:00 p.m. Well, as it turned out, none of us remembered the time change from Mountain Time BACK to Central Time (🤦). So we walked in at 7:00 hoping the place wasn't dead. There were probably still three or four groups eating dinner and enjoying dessert. So we didn't feel so bad... Although we did end up closing the place down. My daughter wanted a soft pretzel and had been talking about it for about 2 days. Well, this place has them, and they are pretty darn soft, good, salty, and delicious! I had the Alejandro sandwich at the recommendation of our server. Other people in our party ordered a burger and a salad, both delicious. Even though the food was good, the desserts are even better. Old school strawberry shake (they bring whatever did not fit in the milkshake glass still in the metal shaker ✊♥️🙌). Old school vanilla sundae also served in a sundae glass. Classic banana split in a banana split glass boat. Ice cream appears to be homemade or locally sourced, and delicious!! My 9-year-old got a cherry slush puppy (which I really had no idea about but she knew... Of course. 😂). We came, saw, and did just about as much damage as we possibly could. If this place was around the corner, we would be in some serious trouble! If you plan to stop at the county courthouse for whatever reason, this needs to be the next stop before leaving! -- updated 4/6/25 -- I need another trip to the Panhandle for more hiking during spring break 2025. My daughter had been talking about this place for a year, so we were sure to visit...twice. (Once for food and malts, and the other time for ice cream! 🤪). And if we head back next year for hiking again which is quite likely, we...
Read moreWalked in with my husband and daughter and immediately felt judged. Everyone was quiet and felt immediate judgement. We sat down, and the older lady there seemed annoyed we went in. She didn't bother to say anything to us just slapped menus down and lingered for us to make an immediate decision on our orders. I guess to hurry us up. She then had a younger lady serve us, she was nice but was nervous. Unsure if it was because she was judging us or because the older lady told her something. When I received my burger it had the cheese paper still on it. I took it off and didn't say anything because of how our visit was so far, and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for my burger. We've been here several times since we live in canyon and our kids love it here. But this time was so off and I'm unsure why. We aren't like everyone in canyon we are covered in tattoos and we are always judged but this was a first here especially since we were always greeted warmly. Did they think we were going to skip out on the bill? Did they think we were going to be rude and destroy their shop? Why are they judging us? Their "have a blessed day" was not genuine. It felt like they were trying to say something without saying something. Everyone else there was talked to normally and checked up on, while we were left to the side and ignored until we paid. Then immediately they grabbed our money. The entire time the older lady kept giving my husband dirty looks. Like I said we are used to being judged, but this was a first here and very disappointed. Tattoos shouldn't make someone...
Read moreAbsolutely love this place food is amazing. Its always relaxing. But this time we came in and a young boy that didn’t look more than 13 was serving us. He was extremely short with us, and after dropping off our food never came to check in on us, and when we finished or food we waited half an hour to just order some ice cream, and while waiting for him I over heard the other waitress tell him to go check on his table and he said no and then we waited even long until he finally came to us and just said are you ready for the check. He never asked if everything was good, he never asked if we wanted anything else, only said ready for the check. Then we finally ordered our our ice cream saying we were going to share one. When he brought it out there was only one spoon so we asked for another spoon and when he grabbed it we saw his hold on to the part that you put in your mouth with his bare hands. I am very disappointed with this because normally i have some of the best service ever when i am here. I love this place and come often. But he was very dry and to busy flirting with the other waitress to help his tables. But other than that food was...
