Shawarma Guys — Restaurant in Carencro

My review is limited to the vegetarian plate. Unlike the raving reviews given to the chicken shawarma, I can’t say the same. Hummus is a basic of Mediterranean food and it really had no flavor to the point that after a couple bites I didn’t need another. Most restaurants are serving the thicker more tender pita, but it was the standard type, difficult to tear and hard to chew. The feta salad just tasted like olive oil on lettuce. The small part that had feta on it was worth eating, but the rest I tossed. The grape leaves were served warm which is always a plus with me, but the flavor was off (tangy) and the actual grape leaf was thick and tough. The Grecian dip was delicious and the spinach pie filling was great just not a huge fan of phyllo dough. Although they might be better than Zeus according to several reviews they can’t touch Zorbas according to me.

Walked in and everything was clean and the food cooking smelled good. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Ordered chicken salad and fried eggplant with hummus. The eggplant we sliced very thin and were overcooked, almost burnt crispy. The hummus was a little runny and had no flavor. The chicken was average but underseasoned. Salad and dressing was average. This Shawarma guys is one of the nicer ones I’ve been to, visited for lunch, service was quick, the gentleman working the register may have been a manger or owner and he was highly attentive to customer needs. It’s nice seeing this level of commitment to the business. Gyro plate didn’t disappoint. The restaurant was also very clean and not terribly busy.
