We went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9:20am. In my younger days, I worked as a server. I understand Saturdays are busy. Yet we waited 37 minutes before we asked our server where our food was. We learned that they had, "lost our ticket" and were, "making it now." We requested the breakfasts to go because we were going to be late. Our server came back, apologized, explained again hiw the kitchen lost our ticket, and that our request for the food to go annoyed them. If our table had been in the back near the bathroom or the side room I could see how we could be overlooked on a Saturday. But we were seated just in front and to the side of the kitchen. The servers have to turn past us to access other tables. Nor was this the only issue. Our server was negligent of our table on the whole. We had to place empty coffee mugs and drink cups on the edge of the table; and she only refilled them once. The second time she noticed them was when we asked about our food. This was at the 37 minute mark. When we went to pay, the hostess was asked about the manager. She said, "Manager?" With the deer in the headlights look and turned her head around in confusion. She turned back and stated the amount of the check. The food is average at best, the service was subpar, and there is no supervision to speak of. This was an understaffed place that I would not visit again. At least not at a busy...
Read moreIt's a diner, so the atmosphere is, you know... Meh. The carpets are stained and the table surfaces are worn out. So, if you're coming for the appearance, you're in the wrong place. But the food. OMG. I had the Chicken Ranch Wrap. I couldn't finish it. Massive sandwich weighed as much as one of my sneakers. Chicken cooked to crunchy perfection. And the fries are apparently cooked in crack because you cannot stop eating them. Phyllis and Tammy are a tag team of seasoned professionals meaning they could have retired years ago, but the world is so much better because they are serving food in it. If you're in Carlisle and you're hungry, and you don't care about the decor, but you want your belly full of great diner food, and a few minutes with nice people, stop in at the Carlisle Diner. You...
Read moreAs a former employee and consumer, this place is all around amazing. The food is usually always fresh, fairly priced and the employees are usually very friendly.
Though I do feel one employee there deserves a plaque, honor party, maybe even parade for his absolutely amazing work ethic, attitude and dedication. Is probably one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with and watch work there for as long as I can remember coming here.
If you have been there, then you already know who I am talking about!
Anyway, back to the food. They really work hard and put love into the food and I haven't come across any food I have disliked so far (besides stuff I already don't like so that doesn't count)!
Will always be my top choice of diners to eat at...
