First of all the pizza was great and I would definitely go back for the pizza. But... Let me tell you my experience, I walked in on a Thursday evening early, and overheard the what I assume to be the manager completely degrading the owners for not knowing how to run a business to some poor young blonde girl who was obviously trying to escape the conversation and get out of the place with her food. Once she had cleared the building and the focus turn to me, I asked a few questions and then ordered a medium veggie pizza and a medium skyscraper special (loads of a variety of animal flesh). I paid for my pizzas and was informed that it would be about 15 minutes. I decided to walk over to the Vons supermarket and pick up a six pack of Anchor Steam beer to enjoy with my pizza and a pound of freshly sliced turkey meat to feed my dog for his dinner. Upon my return to Allen's New York Pizza I waited an additional 15 minutes before my pizzas were ready. I was a little shocked and glad my girlfriend wasn't there when I saw the short little middle Eastern looking gentleman chopping up the pizzas with the same cutting tool for the meat as well as the veggie. In today's world it's almost taken for granted that you don't cut vegetables on a vegetarian dish with the same cutting utensil as you do with a meat dish but what the hay, no harm no foul no witnesses (except me and the sign suggested cameras), so I grabbed my hot meal and left. The pizzas were great, everyone enjoyed the slices and I would definitely go back but oh my goodness the owner should probably spend some time in there, it might be a great education instead of having a sign that says please contact me if you have any problems. They should go ahead and show up and stay there and watch what happens or least review the camera videos and use it to gain a little insight on what's happening in their business. All in all an okay experience but my goodness gracious not great employees to customers relations (noted on three other customers while waiting my additional 15). Wake up Allen before you realize too late what the cost of not paying attention is.
No vegitarians I know would ever eat there, just because of the actions I witnessed. The Owner ran business (expressed by all the signage) was totally lost by the reality of the clueless (had no idea what the prices were) & could care less employees running things.
The employees were nice but they left a little to be desired, it might as well been Subway pizza. "We aren't different...
Read moreMy favorite reviews to write are the ones that hit me in all the right spots emotionally and through every sense. I’ve only been to this specific courtyard a couple of times. Today was special because I finally got to experience Allen’s New York Pizza. I had already made up my mind to try it. My company took me out to lunch at the Pho place right in front of it. But when I caught a glimpse of Allen’s from the corner of my eye, I knew I had to go there. And today... I did. I was determined to get a slice. My heart was in it. As I rushed to find a parking spot, I swear I could smell the pizza from 100 yards away. Or maybe it was just my stomach getting emotional. The vibe felt right…it was Friday, and my excitement was at its peak. We walked into Allen’s. The vibe? Checked. The food? Looked fantastic. The atmosphere? Exactly what you’d want from an old-school pizzeria. I was immediately greeted by Seth, who saw my excitement. I stood there like a little kid staring at ice cream... except today, it was PIZZA. My stomach was committed to one slice, but my eyes were screaming for two. Well... guess what? I got two. Ian, another amazing team member, noticed me taking pictures and saw the excitement on my face. He sparked up a friendly, genuine conversation, told me the story behind the pizzeria, and warmly welcomed us back.Their kindness was felt real. Not scripted. Not transactional. I devoured every bite….I went through the whole emotions, at every crunch….nothing was left behind. It was the perfect amount at the perfect price. The ingredients were fresh, and the dough had just the right crisp to satisfy that crunchy sensory. As we said our goodbyes, they told us to come again, and they meant it. You don’t get that in most places. So many businesses feel cold or rushed. But today wasn’t that. It’s rare to get all the boxes checked.. It was more than lunch — it was a full experience. It was hunger. It became a memory.I walked out of the courtyard grinning, passing the fountain at the center with a full heart and an even fuller belly. If you work around Faraday, you have to try this spot. Today, Ian and Seth didn’t just serve pizza they earned a lifelong returning customer.Great job, fellas and hats off to Allen’s Pizzeria!
