unfortunately my family and i were unable to try the food, we walked in to a nice family atmosphere looked a bit busy but we didnât mind. was our first time attempting eating anywhere in carlyle and weâve been visiting as a family for years, upon entrance there were no signs to indicate if we will be sat or to seat ourselves, so we waited behind our mother because itâs an unfamiliar area, my father is african american and my siblings and i are mixed race so our mother being caucasian helps us to feel safer in certain places and situations ones that donât seem too friendly. a very nice server saw my mom and told us to âcome on in and find a tableâ to which we found one that could fit all 5 of us. as i mentioned the restaurant was busy so we didnât exactly expect fast service, that was fine we just wanted to browse the menus and talk amongst ourselves sipping waters itâs a hot day today 88 fahrenheit but it feels like 103, servers kept walking past doing their jobs not an issue. but no one stopped to give us menus or offer us waters. we sat there for about 5 minutes without being greeted at our table, no menus dropped off, no waters or coffee offered, and we just kept getting stared at by patrons. my younger sister was very uncomfortable and so was my father so i started looking for a different cafe immediately. i understand we didnât wait extremely long and there was no horrible service given. but there was also no hospitality and as a server id never want my guests to feel neglected, not cared for, or...
Read moreWe went today for lunch (9/8/2020 Tuesday at 1 pm). The waitress was very rude and had a bad attitude ( I donât know her name, she is the one with very short hair)! Once she brought drinks, my son(3) almost spilled his, and she gave him dirty look and said âdonât scare me! it is the last hour of the dayâ! I would have left once I saw this, but I stayed because of some others were with us. While ordering, I asked what comes on turkey melt, she replied with some attitude âit says right there In the book under each item that it comes with lettuce and tomatoesâ but it didnât come with that, nor did it say that. Upon getting our meal, the mixed vegetables were dark and tasted as bad as it looked (cook and waitress should never serve any bad food like this to their customers, throw it in the trash), and the chicken strips were just a cut up chicken breast fried in flour. No spices or flavor at all, same thing with melt turnkey. However, I will say the stuffed green pepper soup was pretty good. When we got the bill It did not have the total on it, as I have never seen this before, I asked her what the total was, she then gave me the dirtiest look and said âI donât know, Iâll add it at the registerâ!!! Total was 39.46 I left her $4 tip but she deserves $0, I was like, let me be...
Read moreThree Stars - It was ok. I think this place would be awesome if you were local and knew everybody. There seemed to be a lot of socializing between tables and waitresses but with outsiders. When you walk in it a seat yourself place, but there is no sign to tell you that. We awkwardly stood at the entrance until someone walked by. Then when we sat down we waited more than 15 minutes to get menus. (There was another out of town table who waited 30 minutes and was told there was confusion on who had that table.) The food we got was ok, right on par for a mom and pop shop. The prices seemed good for the adult menu and a little high for the kids menu. (A kids spaghetti was around $7).
Overall we weren't impressed and spent over an hour and a half there for the food and service we expected to come out faster. They might have just been busy or understaffed and we came at the wrong time. I think this place would shine locally for people not a schedule and just there to hang out and get food in...
