We came here today for Father’s Day because my husband had seen it was highly recommended as the ‘best wings’ in our surrounding area. We arrived just before 2pm, the table we had reserved that morning wasn’t on record but thankfully all the tables weren’t reserved so we got a table right away. Our drinks order was quick however the wait to order our food wasn’t. Then the real waiting began. Our food arrived after 3pm (over an hour after we arrived) and unfortunately the fries were cold and our wings were barely warm, the extra crispy element we had requested were lost during its apparently long cooling down period in the kitchen. We asked for fresh hot fries and figured we would just live with the mediocre wings for the sake of just eating and getting out of there with our 2 kids under age 10. Our extra fries didn’t arrive after 20 mins at which point our waitress came to check on us and asked if we’d received them yet. My husband just canceled them at that point. The waitress kindly took off one of our meals from the bill which we appreciated but we would have gladly paid for it all just to have a good meal/experience, especially given it was Father’s Day.
They weren’t exceptionally busy, I would say about 50% to 70% full so it wasn’t like that should have been the issue. We’ve been in much busier restaurants and been served much faster and with fresher hot food. It really seemed like there was a disconnect between the waiting staff and the food runners. I think a positive change they could make would be for the waiting staff to run the food so they’re more involved in the management of their tables from start to finish. The restaurant lost $ on the meal they deducted from our bill and the waitress lost tip money overall on the reduced bill (we were gracious and still tipped 18%).
I think the best part of their wings was the sauce. I would give them 10/10 for the jalepeno ranch. I’m guessing the rave reviews are when this sauce is enjoyed on hot crispy wings delivered...
Read moreMay or may not have joined the PA Wing Tour just so we could split wing flavors at Shermans Creek Inn tonight 🤪😂 I live in between Center Street and Horn Pub, so we usually end up at one of the two. However, my husband and I felt adventurous and drove a little further to SCI today. I’m glad we did! I LOVE that they have a wing menu with descriptions of all the sauces. Not knowing what’s in a sauce just based off the name when there’s no description is annoying and I wish other restaurants would do this.
Went with 6 kick ass (basically boom boom), G-willie BBQ, jalapeño ranch, and old bay dry rub + honey. We used to get honey old bay at Grotto Pub (our fav until they closed) so that was nostalgic for us. These were so crispy and seasoned! G-Willie has to be my new favorite BBQ flavor from anywhere - so flavorful with a lingering hint of spice. Jalapeño ranch was excellent, like a buffalo ranch/buff chicken dip sauce with nice spice. Kick ass is the most flavorful boom boom I’ve had. 10/10 all around. Plus the ranch is amazing! My husband has declared this his favorite wing place in central PA. I can’t pick one favorite, but I absolutely loved all the sauces.
We got to talk to the owner, Troy, who mentioned his wife’s bleu cheese recipe and brought us one to sample. We usually pick ranch, but the bleu cheese was insanely good!! Kora, the bartender, recommended the buffalo chicken egg rolls (amazing) and we got cheese curds too. My husband had the shrimp Mac and cheese and loved it. He loved the non-wing menu items here more than any other place near us! That sealed the deal, since I always get wings and he usually orders other things for his meal.
We loved seeing all the regulars pop in at the bar or for takeout and can see why it’s so popular. We even got a sweet wing tour keychain for popping in! Prices are great on everything. 3 apps, 3 beers, and 2 dozen wings with celery/ranch was $60. You can’t beat it. We...
Read moreThe owners and staff are fantastic people. When the new owners took over during covid i know they were worried do buisness in a difficult time but that didnt stop they took it and ran with with it. The food and hospitality is above anything i have ever experienced. Most owners always talk about standing behind their team and making them family but for most its just talk. These owners put their words into actions by taking their team on trips, lunches or a day out as a group and opening the bar up later so they all have down time. No matter how busy they are they make sure to give 100% and make sure quality over rides quanity. They took a small time bar and turned into something huge where people travel from all over to visit. But ensure to have that small town bar feel. The very first time we went we got a waitress named kelly and she was amazing and quickly turned into a great friend. One thing about troy is if he finds out a customer was not happy in his bar he reaches out personally and hears that person out and does what he can to make it right and that speaks volumes. He also offers meals to those in need and all you have to do is reach out and he will make it happen with no words ever spoke. Shermans creek goes above and beyond for the community in ways most bars do not. Some other staff that i personally know is Tracy a long time bar tender there that has always put customers first by making sure they have a place to eat and gather during holidays when they have no where else. That may not mean much to some and say its just an excuse to make money but its not she welcomes them and wants them to know some one cares. So if you have never been there or maybe you have and for some reason it was not great please stop...
