I tried to place an online order with the Subway (Carterville IL) app today. I have used this app several times but today when I went to check out there was an added charge to my bill for $3+ for a tip for the "sandwich artist". I know Subway pays their employees above minimum wage and they are not considered tipped employees. When I order in the store I always kick in a few bucks (cash) especially since the pandemic started. However, I refuse to pay a forced tip that automatically appears on my bill. I have no way to change the amount or delete it. I find this practice very offensive to be forced to pay an online tip or Subway holds my order hostage. Subway employees are making a sandwich, putting it in a bag and taking my payment, something they are paid to do. They aren't checking to see if everything is ok, refilling my drink, etc. like a server in a sit down restaurant would be doing. Also, I seriously wonder if the employees actually receive the online tips. If this practice continues, I will no longer be a...
Read moreWould give zero stars if I could. Twice in a row now we have ordered their very expensive sandwiches on the app (My fiance has mobility issues so ordering in is commonplace) and they did not toast the flatbread, which everyone knows renders it basically inedible. When my fiancé called they basically told her it was her fault for not selecting the option to toast the sub when the flatbread does not give you the option in the app BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO BE TOASTED. I've had multiple subway employees from other locations tell me they will not sell the flatbread untoasted because it wasn't ever meant to be served that way. I do not like being a nuisance to retail and fast food employees but when you are paying $40 for two sandwiches you'd expect at the very least for them to be edible. You cannot even file a complaint to the company itself as it is all email based and they never reply to you. I will gladly drive to another town the next time I...
Read moreI’m always disappointed to see how the people working discount the importance of their attitudes. The people working are almost always grumpy and rude. Gena, was especially rude, spoke with a snotty tone, and acted like I was inconveniencing her to do her job. The food is the ultimate victim in that all of the workers hateful energy gets channeled into the food. They used the loaf of bread that I was being served to close the door handle of the bread holder. The sandwich was mashed, the meat was laid out on the dirty work surface, the cheese was literally thrown down the line, and the sandwich was wrapped upside down so it all fell apart upon opening. When you go somewhere to purchase food and the workers are so rude to the point that the energy taints the molecules of your food there...
