The first time that my dad and I came to the restaurant we had a great time. Mrs Debbie was our waitress and she was sweet and helpful. The food was really yummy as well, so based off of that, we went back. The next time was with some friends, and we sat in someone elses section. We noticed that it took them a while to get our order, and even longer to bring it out to the table. We had a different waitress and she wasn't nearly as friendly. The next time that we went back we tried to sit in Mrs Debbie's section again but we stood around for a bit to figure out where she was and couldn't tell, so we just sat down. This time my fries and my dad's fries were undercooked. We saw our waitress numerous times, but she never looked up for two seconds to notice us trying to get her attention. I even said excuse me a couple of times and she never bothered to look back as she sped past the table. Again, we usually go during off hours so it really wasn't that busy.
Also, maybe the guy at the front needs a new job. He was taking someone's order on the phone and when someone walked up to pay he was pretty rude in the way that he complained he was the only one taking orders and checking people out. Even when he wasn't checking someone out or taking orders all he did was walk around venting about something to the other staff. It was very unprofessional.
And lastly, if you're looking to stay away from politics this isn't the place for you. There is news playing on every TV which led to some customers making not just rude remarks, but crude jokes about a previous First Lady's "d**k" and whether she got it from Walmart, Dollar General, or Dollar Tree. That doesn't belong in a family restaurant. (and before anyone thinks it, I am not a leftist. I just don't like to hear about sexual body parts and news while I...
Read morePete’s Family Restaurant is the perfect spot for a hearty meal that feels like home! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and the inviting aroma of comfort food cooking in the kitchen. The cozy atmosphere, complete with family photos and rustic decor, makes it an ideal place for families and friends to gather.
We started our meal with the classic Loaded Nachos, and they were fantastic! Piled high with gooey cheese, jalapeños, fresh guacamole, and a generous serving of sour cream, they were the perfect appetizer to share while we browsed the extensive menu.
For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, and it was nothing short of amazing! The breading was perfectly crispy, and the steak was juicy and tender. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, which brought the whole dish together. Every bite felt like a warm hug!
My dining companion opted for the Spaghetti and Meatballs, and she couldn’t stop raving about it. The meatballs were flavorful and moist, served in a rich marinara sauce that tasted like it was simmered for hours. The portion was generous, and she loved the freshly grated Parmesan on top.
We also decided to indulge in dessert, and the slice of homemade pie was the perfect ending to our meal. The fresh berry pie was bursting with flavor and served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream—absolutely delightful!
The service at Pete’s was impeccable. Our server was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about our dining experience, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.
Overall, Pete’s Family Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious comfort food in a welcoming environment. I can’t wait to return to try more of their menu! Highly recommend to families and food...
Read moreAtmosphere was best of the lot. Has a normal countryside diner style & friendly atmosphere. The service was okay to an extent. They allowed us to sit wherever, family of 6. We we greeted & had drinks quickly & orders as soon as we had a decision. The young lady was very friendly & on point as far as I can speak of. The kitchen was lacking on a number of levels. The taste of our kids(x2) spaghetti was not good. My country style steak was very UNseasoned & the gravy was just the same. Wife's stuffed flounder wasn't great either. Mother in law had a salad & was supposed to have fries with it. Server mentioned to is that she had asked 5 times for the fries. She did take them & 1 spaghetti off the tab but the fries finally showed up cold as we were leaving. I also had a fried chicken sandwich. That was good. Perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen, but I was not busy, was before the dinner rush, & too many flops to say we will return. Just disappointing being one of very few options in Carthage. Kids complained of being hungry 5 mins after leaving. That's not a great dinner experience. If u go, hope yours is...
