Let me begin with the tortilini soup was delicious and their fresh bread was good as well. That is about the extent of the good news for our evening. We went to this restaurant because it is their favorite Italian restaurant; however, they go to the Plymouth location and NOT the one in Carver.
The first red flag we had was they were very behind and learning a new system. We were understanding and we were happy to wait the 30 minutes (despite having three children under 3 in our party of 8) especially considering they were very up front with us and the current labor shortages. They wouldn't even allow us to sit at one of many empty tables even though we said we understood we would not be served. We just went along with it.
Next to get our orders just for drinks to be taken took no short of 3 waitresses and 15 minutes just to get water...our other drinks took a solid 30 minutes if not more. Then the waitress forgot what I ordered and asked me again (not normally a big deal but it was 10 minutes later).
The waitress failed to take an order from one person in our party and then made excuses about it when we had to chase her down.
As for the food. It was just okay. My fried didn't really touch his Alfredo it was that bad and my wife order a meatball sub (one of her favorite meals) and only took one bite. The meatballs tasted more like an Italian sausage and fennel than any resemblance of a meatball.
Then in short it took forever to get the food boxed up, the checks were wrong and she kept forgetting to split it, and had to find a random waitress to get us out check too at one point
She even at one point admitted to us she wasn't very good... Beyond words.
I do have to say the only saving grace was the staff were great with the kids between talking to them, making their hoodsie cups extra special with whipped cream and jimmies, and even the owner? Giving each of the kids a $1 because they were being so good.
I truly hope it was just an epicly awful night and not the norm for...
Read moreWe REALLY wanted to like this place, because we’ve had Mamma Mia’s catering plenty before and were here for a special occasion, but we were sadly let down.
1st off, our server Colleen was great.
The food and atmosphere were meh. Classic calamari was okay. Stuffed quahogs - served with a lemon wedge, no butter on side - were alright (if you’re well versed in eating stuffies, you know you should also add butter to ‘em, which we did courtesy of the bread basket). We got the chicken parm entrees with our pasta on the side with Alfredo sauce. Well, the chicken tasted good, although the cutlets were thinly beaten and the batter was sliding off with every cut. The sauce was tasty; not too acidic, just right. ⚠️The pasta was dry and tasteless…bland. We asked for more sauce on the side, added pepper, added Parmesan cheese to liven up the pasta and after all that, we couldn’t come to terms with eating it or tossing that much food, so we took it home and will try to save it somehow. ⚠️The Alfredo sauce was weak and tasted like the powdered Alfredo sauce mix packets you buy at the grocery store…Mamma Mia’s, that was NOT real Alfredo and someone was cutting corners; it really was NOT good🚫. 🪰Our dinner was further tarnished by pesky flies in the dining room that would not allow us to peacefully enjoy our meals or company. To top it all off, my husband observed an employee go back & forth a couple times from the kitchen to the restrooms in shorts and slides with socks 🧦…not professional attire. We will stick to our regular go-to spot in Bridgewater for authentic...
Read moreThe dinners were expensive and the food was just okay. The service was lousy. We had to ask for a high chair a few times and the waitress took a long time to wait on our table. She gave us an attitude as if she was being bothered by having to serve us and answering any questions. The menu has a large selection, but the prices are a few dollars higher than similar type restaurants, except for the kid's meals, which were reasonably priced. The portions are bigger than most, but not enormous. The chicken parm tasted like reheated chicken. The meatballs weren't very good. The homemade pasta was nothing to write home about and definitely not worth the extra charge. Other places make much better homemade pasta. Store bought pasta tastes just as good as their homemade pasta. The sauce was good. The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice, but the pictures on the wall seemed like they would look better in a pizza shop than a restaurant. I can't say I would never try their restaurant again, I just think there are much better, less expensive places to get Italian food and many of us can cook much better or just as good Italian food at home without spending $50 for two adults and a child without any alcoholic beverages, dessert...
