Dairy Haven — Restaurant in Caseyville

Dairy Haven has been a staple in this community for years. The ice cream is Excellent and it has an old-fashioned feel. Unfortunately, they have consistently raised prices year after year. Some items will set you back almost $10.00. Why the 1 star you ask? Two reasons, #1 The parking lot is set up very poorly. 2nd, The location is on a main highway and it's a 1 lane each direction. People going to Dairy Haven will literally block the traffic lane and just sit in the lane with their right blinker on letting no one go through town. I get you want ice cream but is it worth causing a potential deadly car accident? You also have customers constantly walking through the drive thru lane. This scares me because with ice cream comes small children. These are huge safety concerns and unfortunately it will take a multiple fatality accident for someone to do something about this. They do have employees going out to cars in the drive thru to take orders but those employees need to direct cars to get as close as they can to the car in front of them to help keep the road from being blocked. Dairy Haven is the only place I know of that has strawberry soft-serve! And I do love me some strawberry soft-serve! They also have orange sherbet soft-serve, as well as the typical chocolate and vanilla. While the ice cream is delicious, with a VERY wide number of choices of flavors for shakes and concretes (on top of that strawberry and sherbet soft-serve!😋), I think what really sets this place apart is it's low prices. You get A LOT of ice cream for your money, and the prices are some of the lowest around! If I had any complaints- which I don't, just want to warn people who aren't aware- they would be that the place is pretty much ALWAYS busy (which, come on, is really just a great advertisement for how high quality their product is!), so you can expect to wait in line, & that, while they have a drive thru, the window is on the right side of the car, meaning that you need to have a passenger in the car with you for the most effective use of the drive thru. But please, don't let either of those things discourage you; this is a truly great, small-town, privately owned seasonal ice cream shop. Its been here forever and I hope it sticks around for...

I love going to dairy haven. It's the best ice cream in town. Up until this afternoon. I don't mind traveling for better service. Two nights ago I went and those young girls were very customer friendly and made my order correctly. I ordered 2 strawberry cheese cake concrete's. Today we ordered the same and the price was lower so I got the girls attention to make sure she got the strawberries. She told me it would be extra I said ok. She repeated it a couple more times. I said ok. Then she said it's too late it's already made. Really. I was disappointed. Wasn't gonna get it. So I asked for strawberries on top she told me No! And had an attitude. That was very rude. Started to get rude but I changed my mind. Just asked for them on the side so that I could satisfy my fam. On top of that there were only like 2 pieces of cheese cake in it. didn't ask for vanilla ice cream and an attitude for $13.00. Very rude. Never again. Even the older lady in charge was rude. If i go back ever it won't be Saturday...
