East Town Donuts — Restaurant in Caseyville

Update to owner response. I was not rude and did not keep mentioning another bakery. I said from experience at another bakery, it doesn’t take long to fill a donut. I had no other requests or special orders. I was willing to take the product that they had until they treated me so poorly. Now I am being treated by the owner for posting my review. She says she’s going to take me to court and sue me for slander.

*I have NEVER been treated so poorly in my life. I came into the store with good spirits ready to get some awesome donuts. It was about 10:30 so they were low on stock. No biggie. The guy at the counter acted rude and put off from the start. I asked if the maple bacon donut was filled and he said no. I asked if he could fill them, he said with what? I said Bavarian cream. He said our filler is already shut down for the day. I said oh okay and asked what time they closed and he said noon. I told him I still wanted the donuts anyways. I then asked what flavor the donut holes were because below the tray they were labeled cookies n cream and he sharply said those aren’t cookies n crème those are all sold out. I asked how many the donut holes came in, He said you can get either 6 or 12. I said I’ll get 12. He said there’s only 11. I asked if I’d have to pay the same price and he rudely stated don’t worry about it, I got you. He was unpleasant and extremely rude and sharp through the whole encounter. I asked if he was the owner, he said no and then asked if the lady in the back was the owner and he said no. I said, well you all have been grumpy this morning. He went on to say “well we’ve been up since 9:00 last night making donuts” I said that’s not an excuse to be rude to your customers. And it really doesn’t take that long to fill a donut. The lady from the back comes up to the counter and says,” after today don’t ever come back to my store”. I said he just told me you weren’t the owner…Because I wanted to talk to the owner about your lack of customer service. I decided to just leave without the donuts and go to Kruta. They always have great costumer service and are willing to answer questions. So don’t worry. I will never be back so that you can treat me the way that you did. It was abysmal. And I’m not sure what the point was about lying and saying you’re not the owner. Maybe it was because of the disgusting behavior towards...

Edited for Response: Sometimes, less really is best. You've gone on about things not mentioned, and I'm not sure why you felt so bothered by a 4 out 5 star rating. It's mostly compliments followed by here's what I didn't like, which was items being subbed at full cost with lower cost items for seemingly no reason. Nobody tried to call to get my approval, so weird thing to add in, and it also wasn't written on the box. It wasn't an order on a Saturday or a Sunday, so another weird thing to add in. I checked your website 2 hours after I picked the order up, and the items still weren't "out of stock" so that was definitely a lot longer than the 30 minutes you've stated it takes to update your website. Sometimes, accidents do happen - like giving me regular glazed instead of tiger without crediting back the difference. I'm going to leave my rating as it stands at a 4, even though the response seems a bit over the top and really makes me question it. In addition, sorry you don't like that my name on Google is satire, but there was an order placed with my full name as well the card entered with my full name, so it's kind of rude to respond saying "and here's my real name." Also, you know nothing about people or their lived experiences, so you just never know what may keep someone from listing their full name on every single last thing on the internet... it's unlikely we'll cross paths again, but take care.

First review: First time trying this place, and overall, I'm glad we did. We ordered several different things that will take days to eat. The few things we've had so far tasted good (strawberry strudel, apple strudel and glazed filled). These are superior to krispy kreme. It's nice to see the area has a better place to choose from for fresh doughnuts. I wasn't thrilled to see that some of the items were subbed on our order for other things they chose. I went to the site to check if it showed they were out of stock, and it didn't. So I didn't like that we paid for some items, and they replaced it with other items, and some were lower costs, but I didn't receive the credit back either.. So, either way, we would try them again in the future, but I don't think I'd place an online...

I had to run an errand in Caseyville, IL this morning and decided to stop by @easttowndonuts ... There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out as the gentleman at the counter greeted each person with a smile. As I was finishing up my order, the owner walked out with fresh maple bacon donuts. To my surprise, she is someone I know! She asked if it was my first time coming in, and it was....(First time customers get a free glazed donut). Normally, I go for the fancy/bougie donuts first, but today I was pleasantly humbled. The glazed donut was slightly warm, light and fluffy with a sweet and glossy glaze that was well balanced and didn't have me wondering if I needed to have labs done later. (If that went over your head, ask someone older than hip hop). The large box was for friends and they really enjoyed them, some even asked for the address. I sampled a few from my small box and my favorites were: Glazed and Cinnamon Twist. I plan on warming the Glazed Croissant tomorrow for Breakfast.
