For starters, I worked cold kitchen at the local Dairy Queen in my hometown for a couple years while I was in high school. So I know exactly how to make a blizzard. Now let's get on with my review.
I pulled up to this location because it was on my way home from work, we're currently going through a heat wave and I wanted some ice cream. I pull up to the window and order a mint Oreo Blizzard with cookie dough, and originally I was going to order an Oreo Blizzard with chocolate ice cream. However, I got told that they do not have chocolate ice cream at this location, so I just wanted a Royal Oreo Blizzard. For those who might be reading this review, a Royal Oreo Blizzard is a regular Oreo Blizzard that you leave a little bit of ice cream on the blender, pump some COLD FUDGE into the center, and then use the blender to put the ice cream back on top. It sounds confusing, but that's exactly how it's made. Anyway, I roll up to the window, notice that it looks like they're putting extra Oreo on top of the blizzard, but I pay. I am then handed the mint Oreo blizzard without a lid. Not really that concerned because I can always ask for a lid after I receive my Royal Oreo. I then proceed to receive my Royal Oreo with a lid, so then I ask for a lid and they get all pissy at me, hand me a lid begrudgingly and I'm on my way.
I get home and notice that the mint Oreo Blizzard that I ordered looked like a normal Oreo Blizzard. I also notice that there's no cookie dough pieces in what's supposed to be my mint Oreo Blizzard with cookie dough. So I go digging around for some cookie dough pieces and do not find any. I taste it, it tastes vaguely like mint, but a large mint Oreo blizzard is supposed to have six pumps of mint flavoring. This blizzard maybe has three and does not look green at all. On top of that, there's no cookie dough pieces in it. My Royal Oreo on the other hand, they decided to pump chocolate syrup into the vanilla ice cream in order to make it chocolate ice cream, something that I did not ask them to do And if they would have asked, I would have told them no because the chocolate syrup at Dairy Queen tastes disgusting. I also noticed, that my Royal Oreo does not have any cold fudge in the center of it. However, I get down to the bottom and realize I'm out of Oreos, and then I find my cold fudge. However, I taste the cold fudge and it turns out to be hot fudge. Now does someone who hasn't worked at Dairy Queen, you might think I'm a Karen for saying that I'm pissed they put hot fudge in my blizzard into the cold fudge, but it does have a different taste and consistency. Hot fudge is not supposed to be going into the center of a Royal Oreo Blizzard. And I probably wouldn't be as upset that they put hot fudge in my blizzard, if they hadn't also put chocolate syrup in my blizzard. Especially because I know that the chocolate syrup container never gets cleaned. At least it didn't at my location, so I highly doubt they're cleaning it there either.
Absolutely disgusting, never...
Read moreWhat should have been a simple stop through DQ for a simple order to treat the kids turned into simply a disaster. I wish workers would just take a moment to make sure the customer has everything that they paid for instead of rushing them off! Luckily we realized we were missing items before we drove too far. We turned around and went back to the drive through and was told to pull up to the window. I drove up by the window and waited over ten minutes before getting out and knocking on the door which no one came to. I called twice , no answer. I then drove back up to the window, behind another vehicle in front of me who also had a issue. Once their’s was resolved I pulled up where they were and waited another 7 minutes until I hollered when they opened to window to giving someone their order. They looked at me like I was crazy, I was told they will get to me. We finally received the rest of our simple yet time consuming order. I work very hard for my money and take it quite seriously when I’m spending it. Please take the time to verify the order is all there! The first red flag should’ve been when the worker handed my debit card back to me and it was completely slimy! What good is it to wear gloves if you’re just transferring whatever contaminated them onto everything you touch? After all the grief I honestly lost my appetite and rather a refund to get my money back. But it wouldn’t have been fair to my kids! Chick Fila is definitely winning this fast food...
Read moreNot a fan of this DQ. The staff is rude and sullen. Another customer and I stood there waiting to be served for several minutes while the workers stood behind the machines talking loudly and laughing. The customer in front of me (who was at least 6'5") motioned to them for service a few times, but they finished their conversation before coming up front. Immediately their smiles disappeared and a look of resentment and anger appeared on the cashier's face. When it was my turn, the glare and angry face was directed at me. I ordered only a medium Blizzard. My daughter's blizzard cup wasn't even 2/3 full but since I was in a rush, I didn't want to cause a scene. I was pretty sure it wasn't a medium cup, either, but didn't verify it until later on. I've had their cheese curds in the past, several times, and have stopped ordering them at this site since the grease tastes very old. I highly suggest you pass on this DQ and go to the one in O'Fallon where the staff is polite, happy and you aren't treated like an...
