The Aurora Diner — Restaurant in Center Township

Entered Sun. 11:25 A.M. Sat at bar because only (2) of us. Acknowledgment of our presence, quite slow. New employee, young, more interested in yak fest and "look at me" attitude. 11:35 ready to order. Friend got his sweet tea immediately. I was coffeed out, and thirsty but water took 20". 15" went by until we could order. I got no meat on my order and opted for no toast and sli ced tomatoes, which looked stomped on arrival. Older male came out several times to remove dishes under bar, but I think he was cook too. Asked for water and a few extra napkins multiple times. The staff begin to console each other as if wounded by waiting on public. Condiments on bar hadn't been refilled on a Sunday, and patron next to me scattered them all. Rolled edge of bar was sticky and nasty. Food came quick, BUT the wasting evident. I asked for no bread/toast as the only option was white. I still got (4) half sliced. No one offered to refill tea or water. Blonde pony-tailed woman thought I couldn't hear her derogatory comments. I got up from bar and approached her at pay station. She had flashed me a beastly look when I had asked about water and napkins. All I heard were excuses and an argumentative tone, even after I said, "I know it's a bear to wait on general public." I told her I was 1st time customer and a review would be pending. I asked about Mgr. on duty and she said a "Lindsey" was there. Never saw her. The food wasn't bad but not worth the tab nor the 16% tip. Restrooms presentable, decor nice but not worth a 2nd visit. On receipt it said discount if you brought to Mick's in Aurora. I'm not sure but Mick's owned by same? Was there too in early May. Won't be back their either. That was on a Sat. on derby day. Mostly empty and basic bar drinks a mystery to staff but they...

I have picked up carry-out for lunch 3x here and loved it. The menu is great! But......last Sunday my best friend and her hubby were in from out of town, so my hubby and I took them to Aurora Diner. My husband ALWAYS orders his eggs over easy; they were pretty much cooked all the way through), so that is sure not what he got (and he always refuses to have a do-over). When he went to pay for the meals, he told the cashier and they were like "oh well" (and his plate had all his food on it). NOT good customer service! If it weren't for his experience, I would have given 5 stars (because the other 3 meals were great). But I doubt I will ever talk him into going there again, which is pretty sad. We prefer to support...

Great food but the 3 young girls they had waiting tables almost ruined the experience for us. We loved the ambiance, the old movie posters and the music but the service was lack-luster, the girls waiting on tables seemed more occupied with chit chatting and eating and drinking in the back area then checking on their customers and didn't bring out my drink or cottage cheese ahead of the rest of food, which for two grilled sandwhiches and fries seemed to take a very long time. However, the food was the saving grace as it was delicious and piping hot. So, great food, but maybe we just caught the staff on a off day. Even so, we will come back as the shake, once I got it, and my grilled ham and cheese...
