Today I tried - 3 Flags Bakery - for the first time. Being December, the weather is blustery today, and the smell of warm fresh bread was so comforting. The place is filled with mostly Portuguese baked goods, and all of it looked tempting and delicious. I saw a little glass case with what looked like small rolls inside... I asked the lady what they were and she told me that it was “chorice bread” ...they looked so good; I had to try one... It looked great, it was warm and it smelled awesome. The bread was filled with chorice (Portuguese sausage) and it was fantastic! I can’t wait to come back again and try something else!
Update: I went back... they had these little empanada looking things; steak, chicken, ham and cheese.. I got one of each. All of them were super good! I also tried a “Sumol”, which is some kind of soft drink from Portugal... I got the orange flavor, so good too! I’m definitely...
Read moreMy go to bakery for Portuguese rolls and doughboys. They make an amazing walnut pound cake which is loaded inside and on top with nuts. It’s baked in an angel food cake pan. It’s delicious. The people working there are always helpful. I make a huge strawberry shortcake using the plain pond cake. So moist. Like every place else, prices have gone up but you get decent product for your money. You have to call ahead for the walnut cake. The don’t always have it. I think it’s mostly on the weekend. Read moreSpotted this place on the way to Blackstone River park and decided to stop in on my way home. The most delicious little tarts -- moist and not too sweet, a wonderful, delicate texture. I took home one orange and one almond and will go back to try others. The Portuguese soup was very tasty. The guava turnover was just okay -- the guava filling was flavorful but the pastry wasn't special. Nonetheless, I'm curious about the coconut turnover and the many Bundt cakes I saw...
