It took me a day or so to write this review because I wanted to write with a clear mind. Bandidos in Cumberland is not the best. Its very much average and my family and I only came because the ratings show 4.5 stars. Bandidos in Cumberland is overrated. The food made my husband sick the next day, I thought the meats I ordered tasted a little funny but I blamed it on the grill, the meats they use here are not of the highest quality and the cheeses are all from a bag. You can taste the powdery residue. The vegetables all have a stale flavor and you can tell they use some type of boullion cubes or seasoning packets. The service was horrible...we had to ask for utensils, napkins and water all night. The waitress was not attentive at all. She literally stood at the entrance across from us all night talking to the other staff. The Mariachi band was entertaining for my nephew they played a few Selena songs and some popular regional Mexican songs which I thought was cute. At the end of our meal the waitress charged us a tip to our bill without our consent(on a table of less than 5). Im not a no tipper, even with the poor service and less than stellar food I would have tipped but she charged the full 20%. Red flag. I didnt make a fuss or complain at all because I justified it by convincing myself that the Mariachi band needed to be paid for their time. However I will never patronize this establishment again because of the poor service, less than average food and what I felt like were discriminatory practices. The discriminating factors being not engaging with our table, cook to table time being more than the other patrons who came in after us, lack of eating utensils and napkins. In addition to overall friendliness. Most important of all the waitress feeling entitled to a tip all while giving less than attentive service. Bandidos, do better. There are plenty of other places...
Read moreThis place sits down in Central Falls (yeah its in Cumberland but on the Central Falls line in the flats) not really Cumberland and not in the nicest of areas and contains a tiny parking lot so you most likely will have to park on the street. We ate here because of the great reviews but what this place amounted to was just your average Mexican restaurant with just okay food and not the greatest Margaritas. Could be rated high here because there are no other nearby Mexican restaurants in the area?
The place doesn't look like much on the outside and looks more like a storefront sitting across from Cumberland town hall near some triple deckers and empty lots. The place is larger on the inside than it looks but is set up in an odd shape with the bar in the back. It reminded me of the many Acapulco's Restaurants I had visited, same set up. The staff is friendly and fast and the menu is your typical sets of tacos, chimichangas and burritos, fajitas etc. The chips and salsa they bring out is average at best and the salsa is a watery mess. The food is okay, nothing great, spoonful of Spanish rice, lettuce and some sour cream, chimichanga was ok, not the best and the Margaritas were watered down and had no taste. Not sure what all the great reviews are about this place since the price did not balance with the amount of food or the quality of food. I would not return back...
Read moreI’m writing this against the advice of my fiancée but I feel it needs to be said.
This is not good Mexican food, nor is it good Tex-Mex.
Contrary to what the litany of positive reviews might lead you to believe, the effort at Banditos is mediocre. I’ve given every recommended restaurant of similar ilk a go in hopes of expediting the excellence that can be found in locales such as Texas, but each come up short; Banditos included.
I don’t want to be inflammatory, Banditos produces digestible food that isn’t explicitly offensive. It is not disgusting. It is not gross. But the experience is akin to what you might have searching for good wings at Dominos. You will find a resemblance to what you crave, but they will not satisfy the experience of good wings. They may be okay as a snack, but that is where it ends.
I ordered a chili relleno, amongst other things, and the cheese in each was unmelted. The meat was not inspired. Have you ever attempted to make a “copy-cat” version of something you love from your favorite restaurant and it comes up short? Have you ever ordered the knock-off version of what you wanted but it just didn’t live up to your expectations?
Banditos isn’t the Wal-Mart of Mexican food. It’s the Fred’s Mexican food.
If you’re familiar with great Mexican,...
