This review is for shark #2 in central falls. The place is very nice and well laid out opposed to their original restaurant in Pawtucket; However they seem to try and charge you for this “glam”. To start the food does not come with any sides, you have to pay extra for those. They do not have fountain soda but rather $3 each soda by the can, which in their defense their original restaurant had this same practice, but since this place was made brand new I expected them to run lines for fountain soda. For an appetizer we ordered a shrimp Causa which did not have any shrimp in it. For entré I ordered the most basic Peruvian plate, Lomo Saltado, the fries were separate from the meat for what seems like presentation purposes however doesn’t let you get the full flavor of the sauces opposed to how it’s supposed to come, cooked all together. My wife ordered a Jalea which would normally come with leche de Tigre at their other restaurant however here they charge you $13 for that. They also have no yellow tarí sauce on site (what Peruvian restaurant doesn’t have this?!). The food seems to be missing it’s full flavor without these little things. It just seems like they’re trying to make the tab higher than it needs to be with these little things. Lastly they charged us gratuity at 16% for a party of 3 which was my wife, my 5 year old daughter, and myself. Most restaurants do this with parties of 5 or more which is understandable, not here. The gratuity is almost snuck in to the check because after you sign they bring you a receipt that has suggested additional tip for 15%, 20%, 25% which calculates the entire tab including the gratuity they already charged you, so if you weren’t paying attention on the original receipt you will be tipping on the tip they already charged. I always tip at least 20% unless something absurd like this happens and frankly this practice makes you feel that they think you aren’t going to tip. The food was good overall but missing that final touch and the little sneaky up-charges are un-tasteful. The original shark although is much less “glamorous” is much better in terms of what you get for the price you pay and overall experience. Very dissatisfied with this new restaurant. Gave them 2 stars instead of 1 based on how nice the place is and that the food was still decent. If they change these little sneaky practices they would certainly be a 5...
Read moreI wanted to like this place because we don't have a lot of good restaurants in the area, and the atmosphere on the river is pretty cool, and with a little help this place could be good. The service was very slow and oblivious, the waitress would walk by our table without even looking at us, and it was a weeknight so the restaurant was less than 20% full. They had one of my wife's favorite wines on the menu, but when they brought it, it was either really old and half turned to vinegar, or it was the wrong one, but they insisted it was right. Nevertheless they took it back and were supposed to bring the Riesling instead but never did, throughout the whole meal and never noticed my wife had no drink and we couldn't get their attention without making a scene. On top of that they didn't take it off the bill and had to have that fixed at the end, which also took so long we just got up and paid on the way out. I got the seafood paella which was kind of bland flavored but had a lot of seafood, squid and mussels (I had to flag down the bartender just to get a bowl for the shells). My wife got the ceviche which she didn't really like but she's had the ceviche other places and does like it in general, but the fish in this one was in bigger chunks which made it a little less appetizing. It also came with a lot of seafood which was good at least. Last thing I'll say is their music for the deck was too loud and playing off some TV or something because every once in awhile you'd hear TV commercials or someone changing the TV channel. All of these things are fixable and I really hope they do. Maybe I'll try again in 6 months and...
Read moreDisappointing to say the least. Had high hopes so I invited my mother and sister to try the new Peruvian restaurant nearby. Called ahead with a reservation and everything. once seated we ordered a water with lime, a lemonade, and a diet soda. Then we were told there is no diet soda, no more limes, and they can no longer make lemonades. I understand there are shortages but they couldn’t make a single one of our drinks? afterwards we ordered the chicharron de calamar appertizer, pechuga al grill, chicken tenders, arroz con mariscos, and a jalea to go for my father back home. The to-go dish was brought out first despite common sense dictating the to go dish should come at the very end. We then spent over an hour waiting for our food, the waitress told us she was not sure why our food was taking so long and promised it would be out soon, so we sat and waited growing hungrier by the minute, the only food brought out to us (other than the to go dish) being roasted kernels and a tiny plate of chile. they didn’t even give use more kernels! The final straw was when a new family was seated next to us 20 minutes in, they ordered and were served before us. they ordered chicken tenders, the same food as us! I am so disappointed, we paid for the jalea we did receive and left. Only thing told to us were sweet words from who I assume was the manager and the waitress’s promising us we won’t regret it and asking us to stay. Those sweet words won’t take back the time I wasted and put food in my stomach. I don’t understand how they managed to mess everything up with us,...
