About 4 or 5 years ago, I heard an advertisement on the Bill Meyer show about Diner 62. I thought to myself, this is probably some good people, so I went to check them out. I absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere. I would tell everyone I know in my area to go here, they have great food and service. They seem like good people. But I never took my wife there.
Listen, I don't live near this place. I can't be a regular. It's at least a 45-minute drive to get there. And we ain't in Texas. But I digress.
I took my wife to finally get to experience what I have, but there is a small hitch. My wife is severely allergic to the antibiotic fed to chicken. Is sulfa based because a majority of people 2/3 of those allergic to antibiotics are allergic to penicillin. The other 1/3 are deathly allergic to sulfa antibiotics. All of a sudden, we became a joke to the staff. Asking where they get their eggs for her safety was a joke. The waitress asked what kind of potatoes she wanted with the chicken fried steak, and she said none and asked for fruit instead of eggs. Because the eggs could put her in the hospital or kill her. I told the waitress to just put the hashbrowns on the plate, and I would eat them. When "the waitress " asked for the hashbrowns on a separate plate, the 5 year old cook, names Chris, decided he would make fun of my wife. He talked shit about her and cried boohoohoo within earshot. What a jerk. I even yelled in the restaurant, "I can actually hear you all the way out here."
We ate our food. I paid my bill and fairly tipped my waitress. But, I will make this review.
We are simple working class people. We are not rich in any way. I value where my and my friends' money goes. And it won't go here. I made my post to tell people and friends to avoid this place because they are not...
Read moreBEWARE OF YOUR CREDIT CARD CHARGES!! If I could give 0 stars I sure would just to warn folks. I've been going to Diner 62 for over 20 years before it was 62. But yesterday we went in for breakfast and had very bad service so left no tip. Wrote big on the ticket to cover the tips area our total of bill 47.50. Yet my bank showed 52.50 so they took it upon them selves to add the 5 bucks ... the meaning of TIP To Insure Promptness!! I was a waitress for over 30 years don't expect a tip work for the tip. So I went back to the Diner today to inquire about the addition of the 5 bucks to my card. I asked to see my signed copy, and here is where I was screamed at by the manager/owner? to get out and never come back. Told quite loud they were not thieves yet I had not called them as such. This tells me why are you so angry when asked about a fraudulent charge from your company. THIS JUST TELLS ME THIS MUST BE COMMON PRACTICE .... I deal with credit cards every day and when someone asks about a charge i look up the charge and show them what took place. If there's an error I take care of it. Not here ... Screamed at and thrown out for asking .... hmmmmmmm pretty damn fishy if you ask me. So do watch your receipts if you do go to Diner 62 ... I KNOW I WON'T...
Read moreIf you’re wanting a local family atmosphere with chill vibes, I would try this small restaurant. I give it 5 stars even though it took a really long time for our food to be made. We were seated within 20 mins for a table of 8. Ordered and received in 45 minutes. We did constantly have our coffee and water filled. The waiters and waitress were all super nice. When people walked in, they called them by name. I had half order of biscuits and gravy with bacon and scrambled eggs. The biscuits were a good size (I hate when they are HUGE and doughy) these WERE NOT. The gravy was tasty and the eggs weren’t over done and dry. I will be coming back to try a different plate for sure. Easy to get to and find! Just be prepared to wait for your food, for me it wasn’t a problem cause you can see how...
