I love Champaign LE Peep! I love the food, I love the management, I love the location, I love everything. The food here is made to order- everything is made fresh and is warm when it is served to you. While I will recommend a skillet or Benedict anything for breakfast, I am also a fan of the lovely meals they serve for lunch. I am kind of disheartened by the folks saying negative things because of what they feel must be a personal diss. If you are wanting a good brunch on a weekend of course they are busy and there will be a 40 minute wait. That is because the food is good and everyone is hungry. There is no need to go after the hard working folks busting themselves to serve you. Especially because you got there at the last minute and they have been open since 6am. Oh, yes, I am of color as well and the service if just as good. I see plenty of other 'non-white' people enjoying a meal there as too, so to suggest that this place is less than desirable because of what you look like is absurd. It is 2017 people. Enough of my rant. This restaurant serves amazing food and a great atmosphere. It is perfect fit for the Champaign-Urbana...
Read moreLa Peep had a cute atmosphere, but I had a terrible experience. I went with my boyfriend for brunch, and the waitress was short and clipped with us, almost to the extent of rudeness. Normally this wouldn't be upsetting, as working in a restaurant can be stressful, but it seemed like she was warm and friendly with the patrons surrounding us, many of whom arrived after us and received their food before us.
The reason her treatment gave me pause is that my boyfriend is African American. The guests surrounding us were all white. It's not a good feeling to be treated differently because of your skin tone, and it's always frustrating when you don't have any outright racist actions to point to. However, the waitress made us feel unwelcome and inferior.
We walked out of La Peep with mediocre food churning in our stomachs. I would in no way recommend this...
Read moreWhat a rude owner. First I had a messed up order and the owner tried to make excuses about it not apologies. Then when my remade order came it was cold and pathetic. When the cashier asked me how everything was. I was honest and just said that it wasn’t very good this time I’m not happy. But I was still ready to just pay and leave. The cashier wanted to tell the owner about my experience and again he just argued and made excuses and rudely asked me “Well what do you want me to do?” I would expect more of an apology and maybe an offer of his own to turn my experience around. I responded with I’m not asking for anything I was just telling you my experience, then he just walked away. Wow! One bad experience can ruin it forever and that’s about where I am at. At least the cashier was nice and tried to accommodate me and acted more of like an owner than the...
