We thought we lost our all time favorite cheesesteak sandwich chef forever when he unexpectedly left Philly’s Famous. Last night we stumbled into a new cheesesteak joint with great reviews - EDDIE’S PHILLY… Figured we’d check it out since it was so close to the other place. Unbeknownst to us… Who walks out from the kitchen… Our Eddie - Our all time favorite cheesesteak sandwich chef!!!
He has ventured out and opened his own restaurant just a few months ago! We were so excited to see him as he us! It felt like Christmas Day!!! You see… Eddie is a proud man. He takes pride in every sandwich he makes. He takes pride in flying in the freshest bread from back east and only using the finest quality meats! There aren’t many restaurants that the owner is also the cook and cares about what his customers are eating. Yes, Eddie works 6 days a week! You can actually see the joy it brings Eddie when you praise his creations!
The restaurant is new, very clean and quiet except for the clink clink clink of the spatulas on the grill chopping the steak.
I have lived in Arizona since 1988. I’m from Long Island and my family is from Pennsylvania. I know how hard it is to find good food out here! Lol! If you want a REAL sandwich… A REAL Philly cheesesteak… Eddie’s Philly is the REAL deal. I can’t say enough!
ADDITIONAL REVIEW FROM A VISIT A WEEK LATER:
In fact, I’m gonna say more… We went back on August 30 to see Eddie! We love their cheesesteaks but wanted to try a different sandwich - so, instead of a side of fries or onion rings we ordered another sandwich to sample! We tried the corned beef sandwich on rye. The cheesesteaks will always be our top choice but OH MY… That was the best MOST TENDER corned beef I’ve eaten west of the Mississippi! The only change is I would ask Eddie to heat it up. But it was simply amazing - with all the fixings you only get in New York! Next week we will try a “side” of pastrami sandwich with our cheesesteaks!
I overheard Eddie telling a customer where he would go in Philly for a good cheesesteak… Delassandro‘s Steaks. I felt compelled to interrupt since we were just there in July. We’ve been to all the “popular” Philly cheesesteak spots in Philadelphia with Delassandro’s being our favorite go-to spot. But honestly, we have to go to Arizona to get a REAL Philly cheesesteak at Eddie’s Philly. Unfortunately, all those popular spots in Philadelphia have gotten too touristy, too commercialized and frankly, have become just a sandwich assembly line! At Eddie’s Philly each sandwich is made to order and the quality is outstanding! I’ve added some more food porn pics for your...

Let me tell you something about Eddies: They're not just slinging cheesesteaks, they are slapping you in the face with a slice of Philly soul. I mean that in the best way possible.
First off, let's talk bread. It's soft but sturdy, like a tough guy that owns a tiny fluffy cat. It absolutely hugs the meat and cheese. Eddie is so serious about the bread that every Friday at 5:30AM, he gets a bread shipment from Atlantic City. As he passionately told us, it's the bread makes the cheesesteaks.
Speaking of cheese: Cheez Whiz. I know what you're thinking, "Isn't that the stuff in jars my grandma used for nachos in 1992?" YES! And it's glorious. Melted, gooey, neon-orange perfection that coats the beef like a warm, processed blanket. Add onions and it's basically a greasy love letter to your arteries. Your doctor might get upset but your tastebuds will be dancing.
The ribeye meat is solid. Chopped fine, juicy, and piled higher than Camelback Mountain. My only beef with the beef (see what I did there?) is that it could use a smidge more seasoning.
Here's where they really won me over: Pennsylvania Birch Beer. It's like root beer that grew a beard, bought a motorcycle, and learned how to split firewood with its bare hands.
All in all, it's a 5-star experience that makes you wish your pants were just a...

I was greeted very quickly and genuinely by Eddie and his staff which made me immediately feel at ease as this was the first time visiting this restaurant.
I was driving down Dobson looking for something to eat when I saw the flag at the intersection that said ‘Cheesesteaks.’ I had to dip in and see if it was any good!
Very quickly was I welcomed and after asking for a few recommendations, I landed on the Philly cheesesteak with Mushrooms. Watching him cook it in front of me as he lauded about how amazing the bread was, had me starving and salivating!
I took the hoagie home to enjoy with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal and experience! He even gave my little girl a little treat and was very generous & kind!
Every time I visit Arizona, I’ll be stopping in here for sure! I hope the place stays open for a long time for mine and everyone else’s sake that...
