"Food for thought: Are mashed potatoes just Irish guacamole?" ― Kerry O'Shea

Lobster Potstickers ($18 - Lobster potstickers served with togarashi miso butter sauce): What is it about things being wrapped in dough that makes it better? Pierogis, wontons, raviolis, potstickers... ALL SO GOOD! IF there's a dumpling of some sort on the menu, there's a high possibility that I will order it. Having said that, these lobster potstickers were okay. The flavors of the sea got lost in the togarashi miso butter sauce. The sauce was just too aggressive, albeit quite tasty.

Crispy Calamari ($17 - Lightly-coated deep-fried calamari served with jalapeño chili basil sauce): As Beyoncé once sang, "If you liked it then you should've put a [calamari] ring on it!" I want more rings... MORE! Both the seafood-y kind and the bling bling kind, haha! These are your standard, classic, calamari rings. No notes and nothing to write home about.

Bowl of New England Clam Chowder ($12 - Sea clams, celery, and potatoes with some oyster crackers): They say that only the pure of heart can make good soup. The chef here must have a heart of gold then because what a great chowder! They are generous with the amount of clams here. Most people go stingy with the seafood but not Sea & Smoke. It was also full of delicious potatoes and vegetables as well and I enjoyed dumping my packets of oyster crackers on top.

Mesquite Grilled Chilean Sea Bass ($56 - served with lobster mashed potatoes, broccolini, and lobster cognac cream sauce): I only had a few bites of this but I still have thoughts! First of all, the star of the dish was the lobster mashed potatoes. The sauce, like the case in their potstickers, was once again a bit overpowering. That sea bass was lost in the sauce and not in the good way. I wouldn't suggest this dish to a friend.

2X Smoke Shows ($20ea - Old Forester 1897, Angostura Bitters, Maraska Green Walnut Liquer): The tableside flamethrower on the cherrywood chips alone makes this a fun drink to order. I love seeing the tendrils of smoke rain down on the amber liquid that is sure to pack a punch.

Anejo Espresso Martini ($16 - Tequilla, coffee liquer, espresso, and toasted coconut): I honestly can't tell you what's all in it but it was an amazing variant on the espresso martini. Our waiter had detailed the three kinds of espresso martinis they had and when he mentioned toasted coconut, I knew this one was the one for me. It was great. Cheers!

$172, after tax. Great meal, amazing vibes, and the staff is amazing. I would definitely love to come...

I wanted to love it. Even though the (expensive) food was delicious, there were too many things that were just messed up...

Incomprehensibly, they opened both of the glass "garage doors" even though it was in the mid-60s outside. We asked our server if it was possible to close the one nearest our table, and he said he would ask his manager. I saw him immediately approach a woman working outside and speak with her. The garage doors remained open. I was uncomfortably cold. I saw a man at a table adjacent to our (ridiculously tiny) booth literally sitting on his hands. Yup. Chilly for sure.

With it being so chilly, my $95 meal quickly got cold. Nice.

My $95 meal was delicious. But it was stupid. What idiot thought I should have to buy TWO whole lobster tails, which was double what I could possibly consume? Irritating! Very expensive and the only option was to buy twice as much food as I needed or wanted. Really irritating!

The service was just okay. Barely. For example, it took FIFTEEN MINUTES for my wife's mocktail to arrive. For example, my fork flew off the (very small) table onto the floor - directly in the line of sight of a server standing at the table next to our (tiny) booth. There's no way he didn't notice. But, he blew it off. Ignored it. He wasn't "our" server, so why bother? Eventually, I got up from our table and walked over to another table (fully in the view of the server that ignored my need) and robbed the fork from the silverware on that table.

There was also this bizarre connection to the casual eatery next door where rock music was quietly playing. These wooden vertical blind slats were the only separation between the two establishments, and the casual eatery's rock music overlapped with the music playing in our sorta-fine-dining restaurant. Kinda dumb. Our server said they were supposed to "fix it" months ago by drywalling between the two rooms. But I guess they really couldn't be bothered. Who cares, right? We'll gouge the hell outta people that either have too much money or are here for the first time. No biggie, right?

So, good food but poor management and so-so service. I have pretty high expectations when I'm dropping a hundred bucks a plate for a meal. This place fell short - 100% due to front-of-the-house...

For a seafood restaurant it would help if they could cook a piece of fish correctly... We live in Phoenix and found this place on OpenTable, booked it for a Saturday night "Mothers Day" Dinner for my wife.. Drove 30miles each way only to be disappointed. Our 1st server took our drink order and appetizers.. The food showed up before our bottle of wine did.. Then our server basically ghosted us and I had to flag a different server down in order to place an order for oysters and our entrees. Our Second Server was much better and more attentive (I'm guessing we were handed off by the first server)... We ordered a half dozen oysters but 1 dozen showed up..ok no problem we love oysters.. but we look around the room and the other oyster presentations were slightly different.. the cocktail sauce was basically Ketchup with a dollop of Horseradish on top... No mignonette sauce and the lemons were from the end of the lemon so basically useless... The Oyster tray sat at our table for 10minutes before I again had to grab a random server and ask to have it taken away and not at a moments notice to soon because our entrees were literally being delivered at that point... my wife had the Halibut which was presented well and the flavors were perfect...but the actual fish was borderline over cooked.. I ordered the Seabass.. again presentation was great and this would have been a great dish worth the $59 they charge for it except my fish was so over cooked that the proteins were coagulated (A sign of over cooked meat)... I ate half the fish and could not eat anymore it was so dry... I told the server and she offered free dessert but we were kind of disappointed at this time and just wanted to leave.. we got our check... and no compensation we were charged for everything despite expressing concerns to the server, we paid the bill and left.. Very disappointing.. its a great location with a well written menu, its unfortunate they can...
