If y’all are looking for some great Italian food, then please check out Val’s.
Although they recently opened up, it felt like they’ve been doing this for many years. Not only was the food top notch, but the service was excellent as well.
They brought me out some fresh bread and butter within minutes of being seated. After going over the menu, I quickly noticed one thing that I instantly had to have and it’s honestly something I look for at every Italian restaurant. That would be the roasted garlic dipping oil. Although simple, it’s something I really enjoy. They even brought out some more hot and fresh bread to go with that too. Of course it was delicious!!!
I decided to venture out and order an entree I’ve never had before. As I get older, I’m getting better with certain textures. The one in particular I’m referring to is mushrooms. I’ve always loved the flavor, just never cared for the somewhat crunchy and yet still slimy/soft texture. I ended up ordering the Damabianca. That consisted of grilled chicken or pan seared veal with fresh sautéed mushrooms in a creamy lemon sauce over spaghetti pasta. I chose the veal.
I really enjoyed this dish, even more than I thought I would. I’ve had veal at some high end restaurants before and this was on par with the finest restaurants, in regard to the overall taste and texture. It was surprisingly tender and that light sear really added some additional flavor to it. The spaghetti noodles were perfectly cooked and the creamy lemon sauce was divine.
My servers name was Savanna and she did a phenomenal job at explaining some of the dishes to me and making sure I had everything I needed.
Y’all make sure to go check them out and see...
Read moreVal’s in Chandler has such a unique opportunity to be a great restaurant in an area that needs something a little sophisticated and different but, the past few times we’ve been there, the food is just “meh”… cold or overcooked, and the staff doesn’t seem to care about quality. To glance around the restaurant, one could easily surmise the entire staff is young, seemingly inexperienced, and oftentimes more concerned about chatting with one another than they are their customers. Gone are the days when a restaurant takes true pride in what their kitchen prepares, and wholeheartedly apologizes to the customer when they know they’ve delivered a subpar dining experience. We weren’t loud, rude, nor demanding, yet our waitress went straight to asking us if we wanted our check rather than upselling a dessert; her way of letting us know it was time to leave, we assumed. At checkout, we were informed that the lasagna comes out piping hot when ordered alone (my husband ordered a pasta trio dish which included lasagna - but all was cold), as if to suggest he should not have expected a warm meal. We used to recommend Val’s in Chandler but, will no longer do so. Perhaps the location in Canton cares more about their customers than Chandler - we will give them a...
Read moreFirst time visit. The place looked good after the remodel. We had a large group but were seated quickly. Our waitress was stretched thin with multiple tables so she would disappear for long periods. We asked repeatedly before we received napkins and silverware. Got our orders in and waited and waited. Saw several other parties come in after we ordered that were able to order, eat, and leave before our food started to arrive. Our pizza did not arrive until after everyone else in our group were finished eating. It was not quite done. Not a lot of toppings compared to the online photos. Not a very good pizza and would not recommend. Boxed it up and took it home as everyone else was done eating and ready to leave. Took a while to get our check and then a while longer to pay at the front. Other than the side salad and house dressing, we did not really...
