"Honey, what do you want to have for lunch? Tacos?" She replied, "How about sushi? I know just the place." So off we "rolled" (no pun intended) to Yaki Sushi in Chantilly.
The atmosphere at Yaki is inviting and comfortable. We were quickly seated and spent some time going over the various Nigiri, Rolls, Super Rolls, Sashimi, and Hibachi offerings provided by Yaki.
We decided on a Caterpillar roll, a Mango Crunch roll, a Cilantro Shrimp roll, and a starter of Miso soup. In the mango crunch roll, I am not partial to asparagus, so they make the roll half asparagus and half cucumber per our request. Perfect.
The soup is a nice starter, preparing your palate for the adventure to come. Each of the rolls brought their own unique essence to the meal. Some was subtle, some spicy. The crunch on the mango roll has a crackly texture, and a slightly sweet soy sauce to heighten the experience. The Caterpillar roll is mulit-flavored bringing a slightly different taste to each bite. Everything was delicious. We left full and ready to take on the rest of the day.
If you like sushi, get over to Yaki. After that, you probably won't go anywhere else because if you've never been to Yaki, you've...
Read moreWonderful little restaurant. Very mom and pop feel to it. From the freshest sushi to the most indulgent hibachi Yaki Sushi will serve you well!
Although the prices are average the quality is high and the chef greets and thanks everyone earnestly. After our meal, I said the food was excellent to the chef behind the counter on the way out and I could tell he was very happy to hear it. His smile was ear to ear! Although it might be tiring for some to greet and give customers a warm welcome all day, I felt like this man could probably smile through a rainstorm and be just as inviting.
If you order drinks expect a can of soda and a cup of ice, or a nice hot cup of tea. The staff is very attentive and polite and since it’s a small place you won’t be forgotten.
The miso soup is rich, and the salads are exactly what you’d expect. Though it’s the most generic sushi they have some of the best California rolls on the area! I could eat 1,000 of them.
The hibachi was plentiful as well. Seeing as we struck out with the last sushi restaurant we went to, Yaki was a breath of fresh air.
Truly a great experience

Read morewell, i have to say that the staff are beyond kind, gentle and friendly, and the salmon sushi (my go to dish) is the best i have ever had.
however, they need to change out the paper straws to plastic, or at least have both for those, like my hubby and me, that want a straw but cant stand the way the paper straw sticks to your tongue and lips.
its a nice place, but the music is night club type of hyper music, vs maybe something more relaxing.
the chairs are very hard and odd shaped clear plastic chairs. its cool looking but i would either put cushions on them or switch them out.
sadly, the 2nd (and last time for me) that i went there, just the other day, they said they would have to charge me for a dollar for a little side of dipping sauce (if its not the soy, thats on the table).
its closer to where i live but i found a better, more relaxing place, with double the salmon for less cost, soft music, and a softer atmosphere, a bit further south.
I hope they take my suggestions, as i would be happy to come back some day if...
