we have been camping on the mohawk trail for at least 15 yrs . avery’s was always the store to go to if you needed anything i mean anything staff was helpful butcher shop dept was amazing however about 2 or 3 yrs ago they started to change opened the sandwich/ takeout moved a lot of things across the street (which is unstaffed for the most part) this past weekend we went late morning to get our steaks from the butcher shop section and omg the meat that was in the case was discolored we asked for a cut from the back got the cut we needed all wrapped paid 19.95 for it went back to campsite put it in a sealed ziploc bag ( and in the butcher paper ) put in on ice in our cooler as we’ve been doing every time we camp dinner time comes we unwrap meat go to put it on the grill and it’s all brown and discolored very foul looking slight odor . go back to the store speak to a clerk she gets “ manager” because i want a refund ( not another bad piece of meat ) manager looks and says “ what’s wrong with that? seriously i asked another clerk “ would you cook and eat that “ she said she would not. i was shocked the manager was questioning the situation recieved a refund and went to wait in line with my friend who was purchasing bread manager sees me and tries to shoo me out of store didn’t want me talking about bad meat DO NOT BUY MEAT HERE i may even notify health dept haven’t decided yet such a disappointment will not buy any food...
Read moreThis use to be a wonderful general store. But once it was no longer under the control of the coop of employees, it's gone down hill.
I had ordered food a number of times and all was well. I would often get a roast beef sandwich with cheese and yellow bell peppers. The last few times I had ordered it, the order was incorrect. The Final time I ordered it then just took the whole pepper chopped it up and placed it in my sandwich, Stem and all. I stopped going after that unless it's complete necessary.
Also All the prices have inflated well beon normal inflation.

The beer cooler is stocked with plenty of single cans of craft beer, in sizes that don't require two or three people to share them. There are local sausage, cheese, eggs, and other products.
