I wanted to give them a 1 star, but because of the food selections and options of Hibachi, I will give them a two. I was in town after Carowinds and wanted some Chinese food with option. We did a google search on our phone and found this place since we were staying near the airport. WARNING* THIS PLACE DOESN"T PROVIDE A/C even if it is 100 degree outside.
First of all, the exterior appearance is not appealing at all. It looks old, outdated, crumbling, and parking lot was just dirty and trashy. But because sometime you can't judge a book from the outside of its cover. We decided to give them a try. When we looked at the food selection and the price. We thought that it wasn't too bad and sat down. Now comes the bad part. Today was 98 degrees outside with a feel like 105 degree. NO A/C. It was hot, humid, and muggy. I couldn't even eat my food without swallowing my own sweat. The seat we were seated was torn and duct taped. . The walls were busted, dirty, and some of the wallpaper were peeling. The ceiling had yellow stain, and the ceiling fans were dirty. The bathroom was like a murder scene when I tried to wash my hand before heading to the buffet. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY and DISGUSTING! Now when you think of it, think of how it is in the kitchen. The food were very salty which was meant for you to down on your drink to fill you up instead of being full on the food. Food was just too salty, so I didn't even finish my first plate. Because of no A/C and it felt like a oven in that place. We left after 5 minute not even trying to explore the hibachi or sushi selection they had. Will I return? A big fat NO! Do I...
Read moreFirst off, the prices on the online menu are COMPLETELY wrong. It's not $1.50 for two eggs rolls, it's $3.75 - over twice as much. The fried chicken wings listed on their online menu as $4.95 are actually $8.49. So that's strike one. The General Chicken I ordered was $11.55, PLUS they had the audacity to try to charge me $2 extra because I requested fried rice in place of plain. (Who does that?!) So I changed it back, plus got some pork fried rice for $8.95. It was a birthday treat to myself, so if the prices had been the only issue I'd have just let it go. But it wasn't. Ooooh boy it was not. After waiting more than long enough for them to have cooked the food fresh, I am convinced that what they gave was at best taken off the buffet, or really badly cooked. The General Chicken was the toughest I have ever had in my life. There were pieces I literally couldn't even chew. And the pork fried rice somehow managed to be even worse. It was the driest, most unpleasantly chewy fried rice, as if they'd scraped it out of a pan that had been on the buffet for hours. I couldn't eat more than a few bites until I soaked it with hot water to soften it and then reheated it. And I paid over $22 for that?! I don't know how this place gets good ratings - maybe the buffet is better, or maybe I got crappy food for not giving them a tip UP FRONT just to bag my food and hand it to me - but what I got was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Thanks a LOT for ruining my birthday dinner, Ichiban! If you want even decent food,...
Read moreI went in and got a lunch buffet today, it was $7 which is extremely reasonable considering the huge variety of food they had. As I walked to my table and started eating the first few french fries I got a bad feeling about the place. I went up to the register to find their sanitation score and the guy up front point it out to me. As of 12/30/15 (last inspection date), they have an 81. An 81 is terrifyingly bad.. a restaurant is close to being shut down with a score that low. That puts them in the bottom 2% or so of restaurants for sanitation.
I had some food anyway and it was all cool to the touch, nothing at all was hot and guaranteed the food was all in the "danger zone", either for being too cold as a hot food or for being too warm as a cold food.
I couldn't really finish my plate so I had some pre-packaged ice cream and left.
The service was decent.. everyone that I encountered was perfectly pleasant. The restaurant wasn't visibly dirty.
This is in a crime-ridden location though, as the restaurant has signed posted inside that says "please lock your car doors and keep valuables out of sight". There is also a CMPD (police) tower parked in the parking lot.. indicating there has been recent crime at this location. Likely break-ins or robberies from the local scum.
I'd avoid this place and just go down the road 3-4 blocks to Bojangles on Boyer St. To reiterate: an 81 grade is horrible. Please get it...
